Agree with Jade and add that overall more money is lost on QPs than on self picks.

For every $2 to $3 lost on self picks $7 to $8 is lost on QPs.

Nor does it negates the one time PB had over two hundreds 5+0 winners they were all self picks even if they were from a fortune cookie. Quick picks have never come close to doing that.

For me quick picks are my back-up plan when I don't have time to pick may own numbers.

Honestly, it doesn't matter. Given enough time Group A and Group B winnings will be identical. I have two systems. My preferred system is playing cold numbers. In fact that is all I spend at the lottery terminal. The method I use is very easy to reverse to pick hot numbers. I post my cold numbers to LP predictions, but I keep both sets of numbers for my own amusement. When my cold picks seem to run dry, the hot picks seem to be doing better, and vice verse. Luck is important with anything, but it depends on what you are doing. With some gambling events, you do need some skill (from experience) and luck. Something like bowling, golf, you need more skill. Lottery? Well, more luck than skill - but, some skill (if you have a method or can win if xyz occurs).

With Scratch Off cards? You need both - Skill from watching, keeping up with the game, developing (or trying) new methods, and some luck because of distribution - which, according to an Insider

From my point of view skill luck go together hand in hand. To me , Skill is a GOD given talent. It is the ability to approach a issue the correct way to get the best results this is 90%. With scratch-offs it's all about luck in part because there may not be a jackpot winning scratch ticket in your entire city without it. When you select your own numbers you make your own luck, though rounding out a playslip with a couple of Quick Picks opens the door for luck to enter the picture.

Regardless of the method of number selection when the six numbers played are the six numbers drawn it is luck.

You say 109% of the time at least 1 back digit repeats. That does not pass the SO WHAT test. We all know what 1 number pays. How is sometimes 3- 5 luck? Because you don't know when it's going to happen, it may or may not. Luck.

What about the people who have won multiple lotteries? I think the first win gives them more money to buy more tickets and they just keep playing. Guess that is luck too--the more tickets you buy the luckier you get.

In the store salespeople take turns (ups) greeting customers that come in. One up might come in just to browse, look around, then leave. Not too good. The next up that comes in might be looking pretty serious for a sofa, whatever. If the salesperson can connect with that customer, there's a good chance of a sale, or if not, that customer coming back later to buy.

Bingo! That captures it perfectly.I bowl, shoot pool and play cards, and it took me years of practice to be skilled at playing them. i am so good i have confidence going after even the best. But playing the lottery it's impossible to gauge as a skill. Because nobody wins on consistent basis. It's dumb luck.

A California court case once determined that poker is a game of skill because over the course of play all the players would be dealt the same amount of good and bad hands but winning was decided by how they played them.

In my opinion, luck is always gonna be better with JP games and scratch-offs 'cause there's no way to measure just how well a given approach is faring. With the small games, though, skill is king and will produce measurable results that can be adjusted.
