The president isn't going to get involved in what is obviously a state matter. He has bigger fish to fry.

I would recommend contacting both your NY state senator and representative in writing. If you believe there's something illegal occurring, contact the NY state attorney general's office.

I've never been a fan of scratch offs, and I don't normally buy them. There's a reason for that.

I heard a story about a guy who had bought a scratch off but did not immediately scratch the ticket after he bought it. I was told that he didn't scratch it for at least six months or possibly longer. That's because he bought it and put it in the glove compartment of his car, but completely forgot it was in there. have not ever touched that game and not going to start now - have never won on a $30 ticket in fact and have played them in other states

You know what I like the petition idea. if and IF is a big word., we can get 100,000 people to sign it would force the president of the U.S. to look into the matter which could get the NYS legislation to do something about it.

yes they do that a lot - give away tickets out of the latest 5 dollar games - got $40 for free once - think there were a few $100 tickets won too but of course u have to buy other games to get the free ones

A few things that can be done:

Since they claim the policies are that of NYS legislators you can petition your local rep to try and change the law. The down side is that the current policy helps them sell more tickets because there is a false sense of remaining jackpots and I have never meant a politician that doesn't like money.

Start an online petition and gather signatures.

If their is an attorney that could just comment on what the law is. I think that in a court of law it would have to come out that it is unfair advantage to the public that the tickets are getting destroyed.

not a lawyer but like the way Pennsylvania handles this at least when it comes to transferring ownership - before any store is sold they must sell through all their existing scratch off inventory - happened when i was down there about a year ago and they had almost no scratch offs left and they said they were selling the store so they have to sell off their inventory before the new owner can take over

still think the answer is no but would like an actual lawyer to comment

Counselor, the NYS Lottery commission, which is governed by the NYS legislation and the rules set forth has a different way to deal with the scratch offs.

Let's say for a scratch off game they print 20 million tickets. Their are over 17 thousand retailers throughout NYS that are authorized sellers. Every business orders games.
