By paying $2.00 for a Power Ball ticket (odds 175 Millions-to-1), it brings the odds closer to the $1.00 Mega Millions ticket (odds 259 Millions-to-1). Because if you payed the same $2.00 for the Mega Millions (2 tickets/draws), it brings the odds down to 129.5 millions-to-1. If they ever did decide to drop the cost of the Power Ball back down to $1.00, they would have to increase the odds because buying $2.00 in the Power Ball (new $1.00 ticket with the original odds) would have odds of 87.5 mi... The Wisconsin's Mega Bucks game (pick 6 out of 49) rolled-over for over 2 years and was finally hit in April 2015 for 22 million dollars. No where near as large as the Ohio lottery. Sometimes between draws the jackpot would actually go down in value. They had great reasons why that was OK though.

PowerBall sales must be dismal, at least in Florida. The highest amount paid out in last night's (10/10/15) drawing were only six $200 prizes for the entire state. A $2 ticket cost for such low payouts for the smaller prizes is not good...

I think the price such stay the same. If they , lower the cost of the ticket, they increase the cost for power play.

There was a time when a $70M+ jackpot with odds of 1:14M of winning would have attracted players from other states but now it doesn't even attract local players with the availability of MM and PB games locally. What was once seen as a rare opportunity to win a large jackpot is now considered normal. Players have come to expect there will always be a large jackpot available to anyone willing to buy a ticket.

The only relevance of the ticket price is when players are limited to buying only one ticket. A good example is the $20 per ticket raffle games. Another way to look at it is one $2 PB ticket has a better chance of winning $1 million than two MM $1 tickets.

The Ohio Classic Lotto ended a non-winning streak of more than 2-1/2 years this weekend, with one winning ticket sold for a $73.3 million jackpot.

Saturday's Classic Lotto numbers were 3, 8, 26, 28, 34, and 35. The Kicker was 103479.

The lone winning ticket was sold at Grumpy Grandpa Get Go Food in Ashtabula. It was the first Classic Lotto winner since Dec. 7, 2011, which was for a $2.7 million prize.

The lottery wants to earn interest for as long as possible with the accumulated players pool money.

The lottery does not want to see many jackpot winners in a calendar year because of it. How long did the Ohio classic lotto go without a jackpot winner, before it was won at $65 Million? 2.5 Years earning interest on the accumulated jackpot money?

Remember most lotteries only have a 50% payback in prizes.

Powerball is a multi-state game that still maintains the 59 number matrix that Mega Millions used to have. PB has had some of the biggest jackpots in history, and I haven't heard anybody claim that it's broken .

Nor was MegaMillions broken when they had the smaller matrix. The reason they went to a larger matrix was to increase their profits.

When multi-states game jackpots are constantly won before reaching an amount that causes a buying frenzy, they are considered broken so they have to be fixed.

I don't play Powerball much anymore since the ticket price went up to $2. I played a lot more when it was only $1. I say go back to $1 for a regular play and $2 for the power play.

I also liked Mega Millions better when the number matrix was smaller. If it ain't broke, don't fix it

PB should always be $1 flat. They can then charge more for enhancements like pplay etc.
