Oh so that's why i couldn't find out all last night, about 2 hrs after the drawing ended what the results were. I was wondering what was taking so long to get the results. Destiny creation could be right the sites could've been hacked but she needs to explain her theory how would that happen.

Another possibility is the government seized MUSL servers due to an investigation; maybe related to the Hot Lotto drawing fix scheme. From other government seizures I recall (sites selling illicit drugs, movie trading sites, etc), that's not unheard of. The authorities conduct a raid(s), pull the plug, so to speak, and seize everything computer related. That could explain the lack of notice nor press releases; MUSL staying suspiciously mum.

The amount of traffic to lottery websites is relatively tiny compared to even smallish popular websites which feature lots of video and interactive multimedia. Serving mostly static pages doesn't take much resources. Heck, when PA Lottery is overloaded, they switch to showing a simple static webpage. Why hasn't MUSL?...

What kind of an ISP issue could that be? A squirrel chewed through their coax cable and the ISP won't be there to fix it until some time between 8 and noon on Monday?

The only thing that turns up on Google News are a couple of very short articles about the NC lottery's website being down; they both refer to a network provider issue . Without info about what that issue is that doesn't tell us anything, and given the usual reliability of news reports it could be a problem with MUSL's own networ... [ More ]

You are not thinking correctly Noise-gate. States down because of the blackout are off the grid, therefore unknown to the live computer mainframes, hence the active States. Therefore the States not affected are actually the only States that have a possibility to win, i.e. the States that always win . I hope this clears up the confusion you were experiencing.

And to think lotteries want us to trust their computer randomizers. Yikes! Those who overly analyze drawings may be more right than I'd thought. While analyzing truly random drawings is an effort in futility, deeply analyzing less-than-random drawings can be a worthwhile effort to catch flaws / take advantage and profit.

It is frankly unbelievable to me that MUSL operates so many state lottery websites (plus two major multi-state lottery sites) and apparently does not have a monitoring service and a 24/7 on-call technician to fix stuff like this when it happens.

Could the downtime be related to the Hot Lotto saga? Maybe they're auditing the website software for issues, such as backdoors.

On a related topic, it always disturbed me how both the Mega Millions and Powerball websites have long had ad pop-ups on first visit. Seems to me if MUSL is that greedy, one has to be extra skeptical of what tactics they're taking to make an extra buck; lack of ethics. I would have thought that those states who were using MUSL to host their sites would have been the smartest and most stable.

Someone is having a huge laugh (probably the states that chose NOT to use MUSL) and Illinois is most likely trying to send an edible arrangement to whomever is responsible as a heart-felt thanks for usurping its place as top lottery oops/are you kidding me story.

Apparently the problem is not an easy reboot of a server, because the websites are all still offline. Must be a really crazy problem.

To those mentioning other lottery websites that are ONLINE the problem affects the seven state lotteries plus the Powerball and Mega Millions websites I mentioned in my first post. It does not affect every state lottery, just the state lotteries that apparently outsource their web hosting to MUSL.
