The house -on the ranch- I would buy isn't terribly lavish. 3 bd, 2 bath, maybe 1800sqft. has more porch than it does house.

It's the 376 acres with 5 total dwellings on it and 7 acres of mud free professionally designed Horse Facility that will be the financial demand. The property produces 550 tons of hay each year at $220/ton though, and that would at least cover the cost of property tax, irrigation fees, and the cost to take fertilize and cut/rake/bale the fields. Back when I was planning on buying a huge house, I was planning on about 2K/month budget for utilities and another $35K per year for maintenance.

The Simplots gave the state their mansion after the old man died a few years ago, and it was such a money sucker that they gave it back to the estate, and the Simplots just TORE IT DOWN because it was costing too much money. I would be torn between Vancouver Island (so my hubby can be close to his family and I can be close to a major airport, haha) and Savannah, Georgia since that's where I've always wanted to live. North Las Vegas is one of my options. I would be near other rich winners. All the shows there is a plus.

Whenever I wanted to see the beach I could catch a flight to the West Coast.

My first choice is to stay here in California and then visit Las Vegas for the shows. The Indian casinos here also provide shows and entertainment.

At the minimum level wins of PB and MM, I'd move to either, VA, NC, SC, or GA. And id buy a modest home for no more than $500k. I'd also oy buy 3 vehicles totaling no more than $500k. Now if I won that huge powerball? Heck, I'd go all out and spend about $10mm on cars and about $1-$2mm on a 6 bedroom home. I don't want a home so big that I feel alone in it. Something around 4k--6k sq ft would be more than enough.

I would not want one of those HUGE gazillion dollar mansions...way too much cost/time/effort to upkeep and maintain.

A nice 300-600k house in my area is more than enough for me.

And then I would just go on vacation and do AirBnB/VRBO/vacation rentals all over.

599k listed locally in my area: very nice home and personally no need for me to live in multi-million dollar mansions

Interesting information. Thinking a house of 5,000 to 6,000 sq. ft. would be fine and no I do not need that much. Most of the housekeeping would be done by me altho I would love for someone to come in once a week to help with floors and dusting, I hate dusting. Depending on how many people live in the house, the general rule is one full time housekeeper or maid for every 5000 - 8000 square feet. I'd also expect that there would be a butler, majordomo, or house manager to manage the house as well as the staff.

I looked up La Cornue and love The Chateau in copper. You certainly would need to win the lottery to afford a kitchen with that appliance. And with those prices, it had better prepare, cook and serve up my meals.

Tyler Perry's kitchen is not a favorite but is nice although it doesnt seem to fit with the rest of the house.

Most people have never heard of La Cornue because there was a time when they were super expensive with a long wait time since each one was only made to order...from France.

The Playboy Mansion is somewhat Tudor style, right? I think Tudor can be done tasteful. years ago I watched the Hogans reality show and their house was really stuffy.

I'm usually with you, but not on this monstrosity. Whether one likes the style or not, it's poorly designed, very boxy from the outside, the lobby in opening shot is very McMansion, you can have that for less.

Personally I'm just not a fan of French Revival, Fake Spanish or Tudor style, maybe that's why I don't like it.

From the purchase price of $11 million to list it for $18 million without doing a thing is just an opportunist and greedy. If I recall correctly it was originally selling for the mid $20 million(?) and kept dropping the price over the years and yes, just sat on the market. Hi bigbear29, YES it is very pricey but very, very beautiful. As I said, it is way too big for me and the upkeep and yards and grounds would be an everyday occurrence and not sure I would would want that. Exactly what Teddi said (and I want to respond to her next) it was a STEAL for the purchaser at $11 million but to list it for $18 million as it is for sale right now is outrageous and IMO just plain greedy especially in light it does not appear the purchaser did ANY improvements.

I'd probably have weekend places, though nothing too pricey. Maybe a condo in the mountain ski country. Possibly Utah since Colorado seems to have gone to pot. I've often joked that I wouldn't move north of the city limits sign. I voted South , but would want to stay here in Texas. I wouldn't want to move so far south as to have to deal with the humidity, but most likely someplace east of Dallas in the Quitman (home of Sissy Spacek) or Winnsboro area, both small towns but since there's several large lakes nearby, they have enough tourism - fishermen and boaters- allowing for a wide selection of shops and restaurants. I think I would move to Las Vegas. I don't really mind the cold in the northeast but I have trouble navigating the snow and ice. Las Vegas is appealing not so much for further gambling opportunities but for all of the entertainment opportunities.
