And I am convinced the distribution of winning scratchers is not random. Most of the big winning tickets are not sold in metro Atlanta which is the most populated. It could be that the people who are the heavy players don't live in the metro area, but those statistics alone are enough to make me stick to the draw games :).

I'm in GA as well and I would be interested in your analysis. I think you are right. But I wonder if it is just selection bias. South Ga tends to have more serious players than the metro suburbs where I live. But I would be interested in seeing the data.

One of my pet projects this year is geomapping where winners here in GA are located as there seem to be an overwhelming number down in south GA. I agree that it is not random, the question is proving it.

I think I would share your opinion.

And it's a valid point, anyway.

I really want to know and believe that's it's 100% random.

Otherwise, I'm always going to be doubtful/skeptical about why so many hits occur in Californy, and New Yorky.

After thinking about the machines the sets balls, I wonder if they mean, we have 6 lottery machines with the same amount of balls in each machine. We just pick machine 4 and dump ball set number 12 into the machine for tonights drawing. All of the balls are the same as far as number count. Which kinda makes it random.

big bear I think you are right.. the lottery is not random.. I think you can track a pattern using the test draws...

According to the Powerball workers, no one knows until 2 hrs before the drawing. If you search Youtube you can find the video where a news reporter goes behind the scenes of a lottery draw.

Does anybody know if there is a way to find out which ball set and draw machine are going to be used the night of the draw.. is there a way to find this out in advance before the draw of that night....
