The odds of that (three identical draws in a row) are in 1 million, despite a Youtube video where someone incorrectly calculates the odds and breathlessly compares it to the odds of winning at Powerball. Just goes to show the depth of misunderstanding of probabilities.

Which were similar to the odds that you would win $50k in Powerball, something people spend a lot of money on trying to win prizes that are even more improbable to win.

On the subject of manipulated drawings, Kansas uses computers to draw their 3-ball numbers.

I remember 509 winning three consecutive drawings in Kansas in December 2005.

Too bad that isn't my birthday.

What are the odds that you purchase two quick pick tickets and they are exactly the same numbers? Also 1 in 169,911

While the odds of one PARTICULAR number being drawn twice in a row (for example 2 4 6 8 10) is 1 in 169,911 squared, there are 169,911 possible combinations of matching numbers so the odds are 1 in 169,911 squared divided by 169,911 or 1 in 169,911

I would guess the odds of matching all 5 numbers from the previous drawing is much higher than 169,911.

Odds of two consecutive Badger 5 drawings having three numbers in common is 1 in 53, exactly the same probability of your Badger 5 ticket matching 3 of the 5 numbers from a drawing.

BTW, the odds of a Badger 5 drawing matching all 5 numbers from the previous drawing is 1 in 169,911 which is also exactly the same odds that a ticket you buy has of matching all 5.

Here are the stats from the last drawing:

There were 9223 winning tickets in the last drawing and the odds of a ticket winning are 1 in 9.8

That suggests about 90,500 tickets were sold

The probability of not winning the jackpot for a single random ticket is 749397/749398

The probability of there not being a winner with 90,500 tickets is that to the 90500th power = 88.62%

So the odds of a jackpot winner in the last drawing was only 11.... [ More ]

Everyone who isn't blind knows that it would have been more likely for the second one to be 18 21 25 36 38

You are experiencing multiple misunderstandings, mostly the Law of Close Enough.

But thanks for sharing that two consecutive draws had exactly two numbers in common. That's got to be evidence of a fix!!!

I don't normally play the Cash 5 and didn't realize it was this high. I will grab a ticket or two today when I get my PB and Lotto ticket. I do agree that they should go to ball drawings

I only play when the JP gets high but do not understand why the hoosier lottery is still using computerized drawings for C5. I just can't believe nobody has hit this JP yet and it's this high. I can relate to your frustration

No wonder Indiana Hoosier Lottery has a report grade of a D !! I absolutely hate that draws for games like Cash5 and Quick Draw are computer generated. WHY??? After the last 2 Cash5 draws, I among others are convinced that there is obviously some manipulating of the computerized draws going on and it's frustrating to see what is happening here with the Indiana Hoosier Lottery as they continually rape and rob the players.
