l never buy lottery tickets in my city of residence- Ever. Started buying elsewhere after a local residence won a couple years ago and ended up moving out the the city because not only was his face plastered on tv, but people recognized him and there were folks dropping by with fruit baskets, requests for money and who knows what ... you get the point. No thank you.

Yep, and they not only screw their customers, they don't much care about their employees, either.

Speaking of speaking up - people need to do that more often. If you're not satisfied w/ the service at an establishment, if you've been treated poorly, you need to tell someone who can do something about it. No, I don't mind at all. I certainly don't have the phrase trademarked.

I think they still pay w/ a m.o. It's their own branded financial instrument , guess it would be called. I don't know b/c I haven't won anything significant since that time. I believe they pay their vendors w/ money orders, too. They've been robbed so many times, the daytime clerks are required to make frequent drops to the under counter safe and the night shift isn't supposed to have more than $20 in the register. (me... I buy my tickets wherever I happen to be that sells them.

I do have a few places that I frequent, but I am as random in my purchases as the lottery is with picking numbers.

I just hope that one day I am in the right place at the right time and buy that jackpot winning ticket.

Good for you for speaking up. That chain was most likely doing that all over the state, essentially screwing their customers. Then once they realized THEY could be screwed out of a lot more in the loss of lottery sales they cleaned up their act.

Unfortunately, this type of thing probably happens a lot more often then we realize.

I'm pretty consistent (as in always) - but I have wondered - for the sake of anonymity - wouldn't it be a better idea to consistently go to random places so that you aren't recognized as a winner? If wouldn't matter for me - my state doesn't allow anonymity - but for those that do

I find the gas stations/other like stores which 'other' players use a lot are the best. That way I am around other players, and it feels comfortable playing. Often the stores have extra areas set up for lottery players. I don't mind lines at those places as often you can talk with other players about what's working or coming out.

Lucky for me I have a couple on the way to work.

I used to buy my tickets at that convenience store (Allsups) and not but a couple of weeks after the Texas Lotto started, I hit on 4 of 6 for $79. I took the ticket back to the store to cash it in and the mgr. said I'd have to take my winnings in a money order. I didn't like that, but agreed. I play some Keno so I'm limited to just two stores, but both are Cashing Agents and cashing winning tickets is never a problem.

Depends on the volume, but it's more likely a Mom and Pop will sell more tickets per customer simply because the large chain stores don't sell lottery products at their check-outs.

I usually have tickets before the night of the drawing. Whatever convenience store happens to be on my way when I'm running errands is fine. When I get tickets lately I'll get one or two quick picks for 2 draws for each of the games I play no matter what the jackpot is. That keeps me from having to go out the day of any drawing to get tickets for that night.

I buy my Powerball lottery pool tickets at Publix and I buy them for the month. I tried the convenience store one time but they screwed up my purchase so I got stuck with the power play instead of the needed amount for the month and when I get them validated I have no issue with getting the receipt.

I like going to a vending machine at CVS because I don't like dealing with people when buying my tickets but I really like just going to random places such as 7-11, Grocery Store, Gas Station, etc. For scratchers, it may matter where you buy them because some stores have losing batches but you just don't know which so I like buying scratchers at random locations.

There's 4 places nearby that sell them. Depending on where I have errends to run that day that's where i go. The one place knows me pretty well since it's close to home. Mostly gas stations or the grocery store.

I have two locations I purchase tickets from.

Small convenience store near my house Jewel-Osco store near my house

Get my scratch off tickets out of vending machines (Jewel has bigger machine/more selection so I use that more often) and get my Illinois Lotto or PB/Mega tickets from clerk at store near my house

If I'm trying out new things or playing a state lotto game, I get my tickets at truck stops or places that are big enough for an 18 wheeler. Normally, I stop at my favorite store in SC on my way home.

I usually go someplace on my walking route. I prefer using a vending machine, but I buy from a clerk occasionally.

When it's time to buy advance plays on my regular numbers, the amount I spend is worth it to find a credit card that's paying 5% cash back on grocery stores or gas stations, then I go to one of those stores that accepts credit cards for lottery to buy those tickets at the counter.

There is a little market in our town I get my tickets at typically from one of those vending machine style. I usually go in for a sandwich or drink and if I have a buck or two left in my pocket, I'll grab a ticket on my way out. Sometimes I fill out a slip, sometimes I'll get a QP.. and when I am feeling wild, maybe both

I get my scratch-its there, too. Although, those itchy scratchies have been a lot more successful than my PB, MM and Oregons Megabucks haha

Remember though that your family and friends will also be watching the game. If you live in the city where the winner, YOU, lives they may guess that you won. And then they contact you. If you blab the news to them be prepared for the press and everybody hounding you for a share of the winnings. Even before you have cashed in the ticket.

Grocery store mostly.... the 5 items or less lane has a lottery stand where I just grab my ticket for the EuroMillions draw.

We don't have vending machines in the UK, most grocery stores here in the UK have a kiosk which sells a small selection of alcohol, cigarettes lottery.

I drive by a convenience store that sells lottery tickets and go a few blocks more to a locally owned liquor store to buy them, mainly because the store that sells the winning ticket gets a bonus and the convenience store is a corporation based in N. Mexico while the liquor store is locally owned. Sometimes I use the vending machine at the grocery store, but not often.

In the most unusual of places-A DUMPSTERS- especially if it the lottery store caters to a more senior populace. Older generation and even some younger (in a rush)buyers of scratch off tickets fail to check their #s with the computer. I buy my tickets from a tobacco store because i can just put it on my debit card so long as i buy something else from the store...like a pack of smokes. It saves me from having to pull out cash at the bank/atm before buying my tickets.

Winning the lottery is the result of probability acting on events that are as random as the lottery can make them. If one place sells more winners than another it's either because they sell more tickets, or because random probability allows results that don't exactly match the expected average results. I've always been curious how people decide where to pick up their lottery tickets and scratch-its.

Some folks have a special place, some folks pick them up when and where its convenient.

Are all places that distribute tickets equal when it comes to QP tickets, do you think?

Can a Mom Pop Market sell a winner, just as easily as a Super Market
