Whith the annuity value at 292 mill after saturdays rollover it still is not listed in the top 25 JP in history but the cash value of 191.9 mill is now up to #21 on the cash value list. If there are no winners in tonights drawing then i look for it to really start growing at a fast pace. When the record was set in Jan it was sitting at 302 mill and it only took 4 rollovers at that point to set the all time record.

Just an FYI: Assuming the cash ratio stays the same, if this run makes it to an advertised annuity jackpot of $1.510 billion it would have a cash value of just over $1 billion. For those of you with really ambitious fantasies it would have to reach $2.5 billion for somebody in a state with no income tax to net $1 billion after taxes.

We'll probably see less jackpots under $200 million because of the matrix change and probably more $400 plus jackpots. Statistically the last jackpot had enough in ticket sales to be won when it was $948 million so with similar sales and no matrix changes, it's more likely we'll see jackpots just under $1 billion.

I doubt we'll see a cash value over $1 billion and waiting 29 years to collect isn't my idea of a $1 billion jackpot.

I think it might be awhile before we see another billion dollar JP. If it keeps rolling i did pick Mar 12 as the date. There have been 8 rollovers so far and the annuity is 176 mill with the cash value being 114 mill. This is growing much faster then the previous one did. It took 11 rollovers to get to 180 mill but the cash value was 112 mill. Part of this might be when the JP was reset to 40 mill there were sales of over 48 mill which is twice as big as it usually is when it resets to 40 mill.

You're fixating on the percentage increase and completely missing the point. A 15.44% increase from a jackpot of 136 isn't the same as a 15.44% increase from a jackpot of 40 or 500. You seem to think that the 15.44% increase from 136 to 157 is smaller than the 28% increase from 75 to 96, but they're both the exact same $21 million.

I never said it was the draw directly before this one.

I was referring to the draw of Jan 30 where the annuity jackpot was increased from $75 mil to $96 mil.

96 75 = 1.28 hence the increase of 28%

112 96 = 1.167 (16.7%)

136 112 = 1.2143 (21.43%)

157 136 = 1.1544 (15.44%)

176 157 = 1.1210 (12.10%)

On the average, the past few drawing have increased between 12% - 21%

Using approx 15.33% as a median increase.... the annuity jackpot will reach $1 bil in approx 12 - 13 draws

For an advertised jackpot of $136 million a 28.2% increase would be 38 million, to 174. When has it ever increased by 38 million from something in the 130 to 175 range?

What I did was to translate the figure wrong off my calculator.

If you multiply a number by 1.1544 it's the same as multiplying that number by 15.44% and then adding it to the original number.

So.....instead of stating This current drawing's annuity jackpot was increased $21 mil from $136 mil to $157 mil, a 1.1544 increase(or 15.44%). The cash value increased $13.9 mil from $87.8 mil to $101.7 mil, a 1.1583 (or 15.83%) increase.

thats some nice data there. the last pot seemed to be running quite slow , till it hi a critical point, maybe when the media got behind it. and the rocket took off. i look forward to see another launch to the stars soon.

I think in your analysis you re looking at the wrong set of numbers. The cash value, not the jackpot is the dollar amount you want to keep focus of. We are still feeling the aftershocks of the previous record breaking jackpot in a couple of ways. With almost 1:300million odds, multiple billion dollar jackpots a year is certainly conceivable. I still haven't won so maybe the next billion dollar jackpot is for me

UPDATE: No winner in Saturday's 2/7/16 Powerball drawing.

The jackpot was increased $21 mil from $136 mil. $157 mil. That represents an increase of only 15.4412%. The prior jackpot was increased $24 mil from $112 mil to $136 mil. which represents an increase of 21.42857%.

If there continues to be no winner, the jackpot should reach the $1 billion mark within 14 more drawings (21 draws without a jackpot winner)(approx March 26th

In some ways it's probably even worse than you thought. As of now we've had another roll, so it's more likely to reach each future point, but only by a small amount. The chance of a rollover was about 93.5%, but since it happened it's now 100%. That means that the chance of rolling to each subsequent point is 1/.935, or about 1.07 times more likely. Only 24 million increase last draw. So at least another month before its around 225. I think my prediction is still on track.

The Tennessee winners will win easily again, probably. All they need to do is play the trends.

I was switching between two windows and butchered that while editing to adjust the format. Here's what it should be:

If you are anywhere near Tennessee buy tickets there, you have a much better chance of winning if you do. The Tennessee Lottery seldom if ever sells a losing ticket anyway so you're just about certain to get a little money back at least.

I would love to see a billion dollar jackpot next month! However, I think it will be won before then.
