Not sure where you get these stats from but according to many financial publications, a net worth of $20 million would put you in the top 0.1% of US households. To be part of the heralded top 1% takes a whole lot less as annual earnings of $370k will elevate you into that category.

Winning a lottery jackpot with net proceeds of less than $400k would place you in the upper middle class as long as you weren't inundated with a huge debt load prior to winning.

If someone is into drugs, or any addiction for that matter, before they win a big lottery there is a good chance it will only escalate after a win. Yes a sad ending for David Lee Edwards but it was all on him. He got a chance few get and blew it. His choices, his wife and drugs contributed to his downfall. He died penniless in hospice back in KY after his first ex-wife and her husband took him back home. He had gone through every cent of the money, not even a trust fund for his daughter.

You have to realize that winning any lottery JP merely makes you upper middle class, not rich or wealthy.

The only jackpot we've ever seen that would actually make someone wealthy was the $1.6 Billion PB jackpot from back in January, and only if someone was the SOLE winner.

Everytime Cynthia appeared I saw her mention the name of her production company, so she saw tv as promotional.

I assumed her million dollar donation was to offset her lotto win taxes and bring her connections for her production company.

When I saw her on the jet, on the lottery show; I just think it was all show for tv. But I imagined she thought it would get her into the visualization to make it happen again.

I think the problem would be TRUSTING the money in investments AND not having access to such a huge amount of money. It's not like you woulde be broke or living paycheck to paycheck lol. With $87,00 a month, why would you need access? More than enough a person would need.

I agree with you. Getting over $80K per month without touching the principal just makes me sick knowing he passed it up. Drugs and addiction are a strong influence that has taken it's toll on many.

I know I have mentioned this more than once but had DLE heeded his investors advice, he could have left the bulk of his winnings in the investments that were set up and could be living on $87,000 a month. Yes, pay off your house and set aside money to pay property taxes, estimate higher property taxes, ( for me, 41 years of property taxes ). Also, set aside household living cost for the house. (gas and electric, water, trash and upkeep cost ). that would be the first thing to do. She is going to lose the house because of upkeep and the property taxes, which is due every year.

I didn't hear her address the bankruptcy on the show. The show did a piece on her and basically talked about her life, but there was no mention of the bankruptcy until after and it appeared to be thrown in after the piece with Cynthia was already done. I do feel she's embarrased by this, I don't know how she couldn't be after all the talking she's done and basically bragging that she wouldn't go broke like others have.

I watched the TV show with Stafford a lot of it seemed to be unrealistic. The shopping for aircraft at VNY airport that were well beyond her means, then there was the scene with the $300K ring also the Bentley or Rolls(?). I thought she won in 2011 but it appears she won in 2007. So, at least she didnt blow it all in 4 years. She talks about buying a used Mercedes but I saw photos in the newspaper of her with a baby blue Bentley and an orange Bentley that she claimed were her first purchases. I was reading Daily mail and there was a new article on her. Apparently she said people stole from her and she still plays the lotto once a week.

Although I am staunchly against the man-invented notion of money tithes and tax exemptions for religious and charity organizations (both of these prey upon goodness of people), I don't preoccupy my thoughts with what others have done or will do with their money or their chance of winning again.

Any previous winner can win any time at will I believe. Once they win, they permanently remove the curse of can't win

That's why I wonder why jackpot winners stay broke once they go broke. Don't they know that all they have to do is buy more tickets and they'll automatically win

Now, after filing for bankruptcy, I'm sure she's thinking, I can win again.

And if she buys a ticket, her ticket has exactly the same chance of winning as any other ticket.

My thoughts? NO CHANCE!

It looks like you're giving an opinion base on what you believe Stafford is thinking. If each ticket has exactly the same chance of winning a jackpot and you're saying Stafford's ticket has no chance, what are your chances of winning

Jackpot winners are not public figures and in a few states winners can claim their prize anonymously. How is it they know how much a jackpot winner was worth when the people of KY don't even know how much the state Governor is worth

She has open her finances to everyone bc she is always talking about them, giving interviews. They would know how much she won. This is Hwd. Production companies are a dime a dozen and few make money -- especially the smaller ones run by amateurs. Just because she's known doesn't mean she would open her finances for them to examine. I sure wouldn't let any charity look at my finances.

So, expound on that. How exactly would they know how much she's worth, and how much she is or isn't making with her production company.

Really, I'm interested in how you learned that information.

That is rather unrealistic. The charity wouldn't be privy to her finances. As far as they know, she could afford to donate. Especially if they knew she was a jackpot winner.
