The truth is that the numbers are ONLY used to identify the balls and distinguish the balls from one another. No mathematical formula is going to predict the Powerball lottery game. For example, the balls selected from Wednesday's Powerball drawing were 10, 12, 13, 46, 50 and red ball 21. if you picked 9, 11, 14, 45, 49, and red ball 20, you were no closer to the jackpot that if someone had picked 1,2,3,4,5 and Powerball 10. You either matched those balls or you didn't.

Does playing the numbers from a fortune cookie count as self pick or quick pick?

The other night we had Chinese food for dinner and are playing the numbers from the fortune cookie for Mega and Power Ball.

I will let you know if I had any hits.

I suppose if that restaurant in NJ that thought they had the winning Powerball ticket had purchased a multi-draw ticket, they would have really won. But, they had a ticket that matched the winning numbers from the previous game draw.

Purchasing tickets for multiple drawing is fine because the second prize is nice, but most drawings don't produce jackpot winners.

It just looks like you have a lot of birthday number players there, days 1 - 31, months 1-12

Another reason to pick your own numbers nd aways include at least one or 2 above 31, less chance of having to split th pot many ways.

I look for numbers that have popped up a lot in recent drawings and gamble that they may keep doing so. I also like to rely on my gut about what numbers i think will pop. I like to pick my own numbers as it adds entertainment value to playing..but at the end of the day it's nothing more then just having fun with picking my own numbers. I don't think i have any greater insight as to what numbers will pop then a QP does.

I am starting to see on almost every QP that I buy that there are at least two consecutive numbers. I had two sets of consecutive numbers on one ticket for Friday's Mega Millions. Needless to say, I didn't get one number called on that ticket. Numbers were: 4 38 39 63 64 5

I win lots of little prizes on my own numbers (from $1 to $15). This week so far, $1 on lotto and $6 on MM, vs spending $12 to cover the whole week. I just use my lucky numbers and intuition.

Someday my intuition and luck is going to come through big for me

I got 6 tickets for tonight's drawing with a mix of picked numbers and quick picks that had just a few repeated numbers and varying powerballs and I did not get one number across all 6 tickets. Pffft! Is the game just testing me to see if I will give up or is it a sign that these games will never work out in my favor? I only hit 2 numbes on one ticket and that was for Hot Lotto. I average about 1 number per 6-7 tickets.

I usually get quick-picks for one game only, but I know some of the people on LP buy their QP's for multiple games.

I suppose if you don't or can't get out much, multi-draw tickets are the way to go.

One of the benefits of purchasing QPs for one drawing is you'll probably not get the same set of numbers the next time you purchase QPs. Playing our pet numbers is different because years from now some or all of them could be drawn. How long should we play them

I get my numbers from Lottery Post. I research their past here on LP. Then I bet on them using play slips. For PB I play advance play. Five weeks of play.

For MM I also play advance play. Ten weeks of play.

I saved a few slips of numbers that I like, that I reuse from time to time, when I remember I have one in the glove box. Typically I will just get a QP on my way out of the grocery store, though.

Im sure that winning either way would be an amazing feeling, but Ive always thought it might feel a little extra awesome if you picked your own numbers and they came up!

I always pick my own numbers but they change daily depending on the last draw. I chart the numbers looking for a trend and groupings.

60-40 Quick picks and self picks.

I wish my state had mix match like Georgia and I think it's Texas or Florida.

In other words, say you pick 3 numbers and the terminal picks the other three.

I study the past winning numbers for PB/MM and hoosier lottery and pick a set to play for the month with multi draw. That way i am only buying tickets once a month. I sometimes do a QP for games i only play occasionally like cash 5

I don't think I have ever done my own numbers, I am too worried about them one day hitting when I haven't played!

I know people who've done their own set of numbers since they were 16 and played every draw and when the UK Lotto increased to 2 a line they've had to start shelling out a fortune each draw

Most of the time when I buy Powerball, Mega, or NY Lotto they are Quick-Pick. Very rarely will I get self-pick numbers.
