Yes I find a lot of winners in the trash. You could probably make a living just driving around going through the trash.

2. It was destroyed by the lottery.

3. It was never sent out.

So for all the people up in arms about the 1 or 2 top prizes left for the games closing here you go:

This is why it's illegal: To start off the lottery has to legally post the number of p... [ More ]

I think that many of the unclaimed and pulled high value tickets never make it out of the warehouse here in NC. In fact, I asked this question on their website, and they stated that the reason why the games are pulled, is to make way for the new games which they are always cranking out each month. I also think that it wrong. Another thing I noticed is when a game is about to end, they are suddenly hard to find in many stores. Sure some winning tickets get tossed in the trash, but on the most par... [ More ]

Extremely well said Adam.

This might be the case with the $10 Holiday ticket we've played. Roughly 10% remaining in circulation, with 2 of 2 jackpots remaining. Smells a bit fishy...

I think it is possible at least 1 of the 2 is out there stocked at a FL lotto district office/awaiting delivery to a mom in pop store, or on a shelf somewhere in a food store.

IMO, I think thats borderline fraud. The State Lottery Commission knows if a Jackpot ticket has been sent out for sale. When they pull old games with Jackpots remaining, im willing to bet they know if a Jackpot was pulled. Its not like the tickets get picked up, and then destroyed without the lottery commission knowing exactly what they have brought back in.

Think about it this way.... What would stop them from putting out a new $10 game with a 2mil Jackpot, not releasing the winning ti... [ More ]

It depends. In Florida, when a new game comes out, the local lotto distributor picks up the older games from the grocery stores and some other retailers and those rolls get deactivated. If a top prize is deactivated, the lotto website does not reflect the change. Also, there are prizes which are not claimed because people throw them away believing they are losers. I believe that accounts for 90% of the unclaimed top prizes. Some rolls may not make it into circulation because of defects, theft, d... [ More ]

I assume most likely says never reached point in which ticket went into circulation

In Illinois for instance the Merry Millionaire ticket ($20 ticket) still had at least one grand prize unclaimed when they pulled it from rotation so likely assume it never made its way into circulation given likely less then stellar ticket sales

I was looking at some games that ended months ago and I see that many jackpots remain unclaimed

What do you think is the case with those? Did those tickets just never get bought? Or were they somehow not put into circulation in the first place? Or maybe someone did buy one of those and scratched it, but thought it was a loser and tossed it to the trash
