They were unable to say why it took two months to collect the $$$ in California when it only took half that time (or less) in any other State.</p>]]></description>

Each time the clerk would want to throw away the incorrect ticket and print another one; each time I&#x27;d purchase both tickets to play it safe.<br /><br />Maybe the winning ticket was placed to the side by a clerk and wasn&#x27;t purchased by any other customers.</p>]]></description>

Most states will let you file the claim anytime before the ticket becomes worthless and then follow the IRS rules allowing 60 days to decide between cash and annuity. Technically, the state may still allow you to choose the annuity even if you wait longer, but after 60 days the IRS taxes the winnings as a lump sum, thus requiring that taxes on the full amount be paid in that tax year.</p>]]></description>

Since the TN family and the FL couple claimed their share I was thinking the lucky CA person(s) were taking their sweet time before claiming. But now I&#x27;m starting to think that 3rd ticket is lost or saw its doom in a washing machine. However still proud that California participated in the record winning powerball jackpot.</p>]]></description>

If you had bought tickets where the winner was sold do you think you&#x27;d fail to notice that the winning numbers were on one of those tickets? If you bought a lot of QP&#x27;s you might be able to lose one and not even realize it, but I can&#x27;t imagine having the ticket and failing to realize it.</p>]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[<p>They are already required to take installment payments I believe.<br /><br />I think the Florida winners had to claim within 60 days if they wanted the lump sum, but that&#x27;s based on Florida lottery rules that only allow the annuity if you wait longer before claiming.
