Well, back to the house for a bit. I don't like the style of the house, what with the vinyl cladding and the beige colours, the cast iron fencing and the 3 story family room.

A lot of these features could be changed no doubt, if they desire. I would, but everyone's taste is different McMansions in Jersey or wherever sell too, so people must like them.

I don't want to harp on the Robinson family but some folk think that just because you have an attorney, you ought to abandon thinking for oneself and give the power to make decisions about your future to lawyers. Attorneys need to know that you the winner hired them, not the other way round. If you can hire, you can fire. If you can't fire your attorney, it means you fear them and that's a recipe for disaster. End of story.

Can the winner of a large Lottery prize remain anonymous?

It is the policy of the Tennessee Lottery to treat such information as a public record. The Lottery will therefore disclose the name, home state and home town of winners if a request is received for such information.

Each lottery winner must take advantage of the laws in their State. If only John Lisa Robinson knew that claiming with a Trust could have kept their identity secret.

An example for them to copy was done one month before they won.

Poster Joshua Cloak alerted us to this but used non-lottery post sites in his post.

I am here in California and now know what rights I have when claiming my win.

Any decent financial expert should easily return a minimum of 2% yearly and this would equate to $3.4 million annually. Their property tax is under $20k per year, upkeep/utilities on the property might run $20k monthly but may very well be less while security would be their biggest expenditure at $30k monthly (3 separate guards on rotating shifts every 8 hours 24/7).

I think the home itself is well hidden from the road. With 320 acres, the driveway leading up to the house is quite substantial and I doubt they walk to their mail box unless they enjoy the exercise.

Junk is usually referred to something that is worthless. If you think the house is junk, how are property taxes going to break them? If the county tax assessors don't agree with your wisdom then they could very well have a decent tax bill.

For the most part, TN property taxes are one of the lowest in the nation so I think the Robinson's will do just fine.

I realize it makes your day to criticize these folks but the Robinson's actually got good legal advice in purchasing their home under a trust and not under their real name. With enough snooping around most folks can follow the transaction trail and figure out who actually purchased the home . FYI, many celebrities follow similar advice from their counsel.

There are thousands of places for sale that would be perfectly nice and let you get away from people. There are a lot less of them that are that big and don't call attention to themselves or allow all the people you want to get away from to see pictures showing every room in your supposedly private house on the property's own website. That house is a little over 9000 square feet. In the early 2000's there was a NBA player named Matt G that had a 30,000 square foot home built for himself. I think he lived in it for a few years before selling it for a loss.

Van Nuys lottery office used to be small office within a much larger Govt office building. There are 1000's of people coming going there every day. I didn't know they had moved to the place on Sherman Way. Also: No one knows if you are going in there to claim a $601 ticket.

If they wanted to avoid using any of the 5 offices in SoCal, they could have gone to the one in Fresno.

This is definitely not a normal neighborhood D. People ignore signs all the time, from attempting to drive around traffic that has halted in from train crossing. Recently in my neck of the woods- an intruder broke into a home that was still tented from a fumigation for termites. I think he staggered out gasping for breath- eventually died as you can imagine.

Do a Google search- read all about it. Crazy stuff happens D.

Escalate that up to a home invasion....in an isolated area?...Yikes!

Even if they lived in a normal neighborhood, calling 911 would take a while. I am pretty sure the property has a pretty sophisticated security system. I don't think they need 4 cave trolls roaming the premises when they can be alerted real-time to anything near the perimeter of their property. There are many wealthy individuals who own large estates and it seems their security/surveillance system are working fine.
