I've always had a thing for big, brutish looking Ford crew cab duallys. Ford dropped the ball a few years ago went all roundy round with the design. It looked like crap. The new 2017 is all squared off brute looking again. So put me down for one of those. Fully loaded, Platinum Edition. I think they run around $70k.

I like the look of the Porsche, similar to the Z4 , but I've been reading up on them both and this is the last year of the Z4. The Spyder costs nearly twice as much or more (depending upon the options) but was rated at the top or near in every rankings of sports cars while the BMW was down the list. This is the last year of the naturally aspirated Spyders; the newer models will have a turbocharger. I don't think that would make much difference to me, though. You forgot to mention parking...or lack there of. And, alternate side parking regulations so the Dept of Sanitation can clean the streets.

As you mentioned, NYC has a great transit system of buses and trains as well as car rental agencies and car services in every neighborhood.

Id probably get a restored 57 chevy with 3speed stick,white tuck and roll and an 8 track player. Yes they are still around. The tapes are too.

It would have to be locked up in the garage most of the time since Albuquerque averages about 500 car thefts a month.

The nicest aren't always the newest. I'd prefer a 1991+ LS-500 to the new ones. If new the one with the best repair history and warranty. I expect to have a garage with at least ten of my favorites to rotate through, not all my eggs in one basket, I'll be tired of soon enough. You have to ask yourself why you want this thing and can it deliver more then pizza?

I saw an article not terribly long ago about the cars driven by some of the richest people in the US. I don't remember many specifics, but I don't think any of them had anything more than about a 100k car, at least as their daily driver. The one I do remember specifically was Alice Walton driving a Ford F-150.

I remember reading many years ago one of the first Louisiana Lottery jackpot winners bought a Porsche and wrecked it shortly after. The Mercedes would be nice since, at least around here, they seem to be a little more common than Porsches or Aston Martins. I also think Porsche has sold out since they abandoned their sports car roots by building sedans and even SUVs.

Give yourself time to adjust, fix and improve what you have now for the first few years and stick the rest in a bank .
