The 15 million is an ANNUITY, Cash was 10 million which split means they walk away about with 5 million each before taxes. It's unlikely either would choose such a low annuity.

How do you figure that?

Georgia: $7,500,000; States taxes 6% + 39.6% = 45.6% ; $4,080.000

Virginia: $7,500,000; State taxes 4% + 39.6% = 43.6% ; $4,230,000

Texas: $5,000,000; No State tax + 39.6% = 39.6% ; $3,020,000

(realizing taxes on the first $415,050 for single filers and $466,950 for married filers will be less than stated, but across the board).

Two tickets split a 15 million dollar jackpot. The Texas megapiler person is gonna get more money than the Georgia jackpot winner and he'll have more than the Virginia jackpot winner. I think I'm gonna re think my distaste of multipliers considering how it can get you more money than a jackpot winner.

One lucky ticket holder in Washington State for the $25 mil Mega Millions jackpot.

It proves that not a lot of tickets have to be sold to produce a winner.....just the right combination of the 258,890,850 possibilities.

Also, one ticket matched the five white balls for a million, but paid an extra dollar for megaplier and will get $5 mil.
