Maybe the lottery does it on purpose for just that reason.

When I buy my ticket(s), they go into my wallet until I get home. Then they go onto my computer table until drawing time. No chance of losing or having an unreadable ticket.

No THEMEATMAN is correct! Arizona does use regular Paper and Printer, I thought all states used the same thank you for the info. Try it with a gas pump receipt it's black in minutes also depend on where in the Vehicle it's put? Even in the house after a few months the receipt's are non readable

Either you're wrong, or Arizona's tickets are not typical. I've left tickets in my car several times, including at least one full day in the sun in Phoenix, and never had one go black.

I play with two other people and we have our agreed on percentages figured out based on who the buyer/holder of the winning ticket is. So, we would be going to the office within days to collect the cash amount and divide it up as agreed upon. We would also keep it as low key as possible.

I voted other beacuse I play online in Sweden. If I choose to register my play with player card in store, I can rip my ticket in pieces and still would get paid the jackpot. Convinient!

That's interesting, perhaps NY lottery does that hoping any winning tickets not claimed or checked within a few days meets its untimely demise. I am surprised New Yorkers haven't complained about this

Maybe where you live they still use ink ribbons and plain paper.

In NYS, they use laser printers with laser paper. It is heat sensitive and will turn black in a hot car.

Perhaps it was the plastic play slip holder that caused your tickets to become unreadable. I have kept my tickets in my overhead console for over a week and all that happens to them is they curl up from the heat, the numbers and bar code are always intact and readable.

YES IT HAS! Didn't one of the latest big winner's go directly to the Lottery Office and asked what they should do, at that time it was validated until they followed what they were told to do and was able to claim it!

That is what I will do when I win even though I already know what needs to be done before collecting my money I want the Lotto Office to know I have it

I remember the Guy in Fountain Hills, AZ He tried to remain anonymous I guess the store clerks watched the video tapes and next thing ya know they had Reporter's in front of their home they Loved and (planned on staying in) was on the News that day along with a Picture of Him, he had not told a sole! I'm thinking it was 1 of 2 winning tickets of over $600, Million right around Christmas few yrs back he stopped @ QT on his way home bought $20.00 worth of tickets on a whim

Definitely safe deposit box at a bank. Fire proof, behind lock and key and several layers of protection outside. Leave it there while I finish freaking out that I won, then get my ducks in a row, claim, then move to a nice house.

Taking videos or pictures of yourself with your winning lottery ticket means absolutely nothing to the lottery when it's time to claim. They want the original ticket presented, not copies or a video of yourself grinning ear to ear with the ticket.

Most lottery tickets are printed on laser paper. If you put them in your car, the heat would turn the whole ticket black and unreadable.

I placed some losing tickets in a plastic play slip holder under the visor and when I noticed them two days later, the tickets were unreadable. IMO, the safest place is to have them validated asap.

Trust attorney, accountant, financial planner. It takes time to hire these people and set up everything. The next big jackpots will happen around October/November so if I win I'll claim it on the Friday before the new president takes office. In the meantime, I'll keep it in a hiding place in my room until then.

Most likely my choice would be to put it into a safe deposit box at the bank. I would definitely make a photo copy of it. At least it would be safe while getting my ducks in a row.

I have read stories about people that had kept a multi-million dollar ticket in their wallet / purse, but that's not a wise choice.

This recent California couple held the winning ticket for 6 months. Where did they keep it all that time? Without the actual ticket, you don't get paid. Photocopies won't help you.
