Choose tab data.

Select your cells on the sheet.

Click on text to columns .

Follow instructions on the form.

b)

Choose tab home.

Select your cells to format.

Conditional formatting.

New Formatting Rule.

Use a formula to ... .

Enter a formula.

Set the Format to apply.

Click ok to view the result.

Options:

Use the function mid instead of text to columns.

When it isn't a string, use cells.

Programmers can do otherwise.

if your numbers are in seperate cells you highlight all the cells then hit conditional formatting then on the drop down hit the top line which is highlight cell rules then on that you can hit text that contains click it and choose the number and color there this will highlight the entire cell not just the text. ok i just checked if you go there hit the custom format and the in there you can due text only and pit the colors.

thanks for the help but I wanted to make all the 1 green and all the 2 red I was making list of VTracs for my state and to help me see whats missing the color helps

i just want to know if there is a shortcut to doing it

look for the conditional formatting icon. select your rule. depending on how involved you are getting with this a couple of things to consider. speed this will slow operation in your spreadsheet. there is a limit to how many conditions you can use. a choice could be macros if your color selections are more dynamic or you want to set lots of conditions.

more info on what you want to do will get you more exact answers.

When in excel, hold ctrl and the letter a, that will select all numbers, then go ahead and change it to the color you want.

I have copied all the number for my state in to excel and now i want to change the color of the text for each number but not do it by hand does anyone know how to do it or can it be done
