They keep getting ungrateful and raising the odds on the games so I now wait before I jump in.

I have been playing so long without winning that I view increasing odds as an attack on loyal players.

My jackpot limits are $400,000,000 for Powerball and $150,000,000 for Mega Millions because the more they raise the odds the more I expect to lose.

The Powerball second prize isn't so great anymore given the $2 or $3 ticket price vs the Mega Millions second prize being decent for $2... [ More ]

That's to be expected. If you do the math, MM is set up with its payout amounts to payback an average of $0.17 for every $1 spent unless someone wins the jackpot. Someone has to pay for that MegaMillions jackpot.

I have played 15 lines with all 15 megaballs occasionally, but now usually just 1 line.

For kicks, a year or so back I randomly assembled 15 lines with all 75 numbers and all 15 megaballs. Every draw I compare how those lines did. So far this year the cost would have been $1080, and the payback with those lines would have been $100. As far as I'm concerned, my friend, this the right idea as long as the player can afford it. Executing the most coverage is the absolute path to a win providing that patience and consistency are also present. If I was big on these jackpot games, it's the way I'd go for sure but there's still a lot of heavy lifting for the one line which has to wholly/partially match the megaball to do. Hmmm, I think I just got an idea to try.

hahah both make decent points truth is stay on topic and win big. It is human nature to feel as if you missed out even when winning a 4+1. Truth is in life you get what you work for so I wouldn't set my aim for a 4+1 win in PB or MM. A reason why the size of the jackpot matters to some players is what I previously said, the jackpot rolled, nobody won a $1 million second prize, and 20 only tickets beat odds of 1:739,688 by matching 4 + 1.

The topic is almost a debate between the extreme right and extreme left. One side might say they are smarter because they wait to play until there is at least a 50% chance of the jackpot being won. I don't play every drawing. But the jackpot amount isn't all I think about in deciding to play a game/drawing.

I can aim for second prize in the sense of choosing to play MM with multiplier over PB for the same $2, getting a chance at 2 to 5 million instead of 1mil.

But sometimes I think about the jackpot amount if PB is a lot higher than MM. And PB's 3rd prize is better than MM's. So I just pick and choose based on what feels right at the time, keeping monthly spending in the $12 to $15... [ More ]

I think 2nd prize is fair to aim for and more realistic actually. Just for the fact it makes the game more simple to aim for 5 of 5. Regardless you have to play the mega ball to get your ticket printed (1-15) odds. and are still in the runnings for the huge jackpot.. Me personally am not saying I just want the 1 million prize but I will be satisfied to know I took the chance and made something of it. This is actually part of my strategy how I play and I think alot of other people play like this

I had that habit of waiting around for the pot to hit a couple hundred million only to find that I was still matching or not matching the same way. Are the odds really that much better once the jackpot grows and more people play? Its hard to justify spending $$$ on Mega/Powerball every draw given the bleak odds. Its especially hard to justify playing Powerball at $2 a line

Either way I see it as i will more likely than not be putting myself in the runnings for that good ol' second prize 5 of 5 pretty often.. I couldn't complain.. It looks like more times than not the 5 of 5 is collected by 1 or 2 people sometimes more across the states

Haha yes indeed I figure the jackpot is going to rollover regardless and if someone happens to hit jackpot before it hits my mark or i've before i've even thought to play then i'll still be happy for him/her but I will have the urge to play the starting jackpot

Like you G5 when it comes to Mega Millions or PB (I mainly like to play Mega) i usually focus on the 5 of 5 prize for second knowing first is possible.. I'll take the taxed million because it's possible.. If i get the Mega Ball 1-15 correct even better.. But I would start with the 5 of 5.. mega millions usually draws 2-3 #s from 1-15 including the Mega Ball..

In some games, I play for second place.

I don't pay attention to the jackpot as much as I do 2nd place for those games. I'm referring to NY's 6/59 game, Lotto. The second place prize rolls over if no one wins it, and I've seen it grow to $500,000. Odds on it are 7.5 million to 1 vs 45 million to 1 for Lotto's jackpot. G5

There is a core group of MM players that purchase around $16 tickets every drawing and the sales as the jackpot approaches $100 million suggests other players are now purchasing tickets and/or some of the core group is buying more tickets. PB core group of players on average purchase less tickets than MM when the jackpot is under $100 million, but it's a $2 ticket.

Personally I don't want to throw away money, not just betting on one of my five or ten tickets will win a jackpot (or something),... [ More ]

Not really I play when I feel ready to win some odd millions.. Usually around a hundred million is where I feel inspired and start playing either a draw or 2 before i feel the hundred mark will be reached.. grabbing a qp but at a hundred million is usually where my calculation starts.. Just call me when it reaches a hundred million and its mine or we can share
