Haven't wondered that--but I will sometimes get an old losing ticket and play it thinking those numbers might come up. Anyone else do that

Recall Maureen Smith and David Kaltschmidt, the couple from Florida who won 1/3 of the record $1.58 billion Powerball jackpot in January 2016. (claimed under The Nickel 95 Trust, Maureen Smith as trustee.)

The news article here on Lottery Post stated, The winning ticket was played with numbers the couple had been using for 30 years, although not regularly.

Imagine if they had not played those numbers for that drawing

If you believe that it is improbable that the same set of numbers would be drawn again then maybe you would want to know.

If you believe that each drawing is a unique random event; and that all possible permutations are equally probable for each drawing; then maybe it is of no consequence.

I could do that for all the numbers I've picked using my computer since I always saved those numbers to a file and always transferred all my files when I updated my computers but chances are knowing nearly the number of tickets I brought I could come close just using an odd calculator. With the games I played, even if I brought 10,000 tickets I wouldn't have won a jackpot unless I got lucky.

During the last seven years form 2009 until today, I've played a lot of online lottery games, and bought many many lines of numbers.

During the course of those seven years, I wonder if I ever bought a line of numbers in 2010, that was drawn at a later date, say in 2014. I've no way of knowing whether or not it's happened to me because I don't have a record of every line I ever bought.
