If I won any large amount , the type to live rest of life off of (To me that is 2M+). I would consult with Financial adviser before claiming and then a lawyer who specializes in lottery

Probably decide to set aside a certain amount for investment/ longterm savings , a certain amount for immediate needs (Housing/etc) and then have a chunk set aside for living off of in coming years

Wouldn't go crazy but a nice house would probably be my personal priority along with helping my parents... [ More ]

If I won the lottery, I would love to be anonymous. The only problem I have is that I will share the news with my spouse, who will tell everyone we know!. Is it even legal to hide the news from our spouse for that reason

Well, I've been playing PB MM for years now and I still dream to win the jackpot with my fav. agent lottery.club. If I win by God's grcae, I would bring my whole family to a luxurious world tour, bring my grandchildren to Disney Land and buy few properties for them after all we all want to provide our kids with the best. Well my first agenda if I won the Powerball or Mega Millions is first stay low and remain anonymous as possible after the money has settled into my bank account(s). I'd use part of my lotto winnings to help around my community. I'd like to invest at my high school and donate funds to open a judo and lacrosse programs with scholarships for future students. My grandmother passed in July 1996. I still miss her. I still cry. We had to have 3 different services because the church couldn't hold everyone who wanted to be there. (side note: if you can help it, never have 3 services. I think I'd rather be waterboarded or at least shot full of valium first)

First, I'd take six months and search for bigfoot, ghosts, and UFOS. By then people have forgotten and I invest in a hula-hoop and comb factory, start a banana farm, and make child proof toys for cereal boxes.

Depends on the degree of foolishness Max. For instance a foolish foolishness would be out drinking with folks you just met at a bar and you go off on how you won the lottery and how you would split it 50/50 with some total stranger who ends up taking you to court for his/ her cut. Especially if you were foolish enough to write the so called contract on a napkin.

Probably find a place in the Hill Country. Little bit of acreage. The wife always wanted a log home. I really want some seclusion, but need to stay fairly close to doctors and hospitals. Getting older, and starting to have some health issues.

Well, I checked on Google Earth and the distance from here to Balch Springs (a suburb of Dallas, small town) is 364 miles. Shoot, I'd rather go get my lottery tickets at a liquor store where some really cute young women work, but it's on the other side of THIS small town. I go to either the convenience store that's just a quarter mile away or another liquor store that's not much farther OR get them out of the vending machine when I'm at the grocery store.

@mikeintexas: I almost cried reading your post. It reminds me of how lucky I am to have both parents alive. I am sure your mom is looking over you in heaven. Nothing is impossible. The person who won the lottery probably was dreaming about it before he/she won just like we do now. It does not hurt to dream. I want to take care the people I love and money will make it a lot easier. I am helping them now, but now as much as I would like to do.

LiveInGreenBay, that song reminds me of what my mom used to tell me. She's been gone for 12 yrs. now (just last week was the anniversary of the day she passed) and there's not been a single day go by that I haven't thought of her. I wasn't a typical momma's boy but she truly was my best friend I've ever had and a buffer between me and my pop who were so much alike, we sometimes got on each others nerves. I'd give half the life I have left just to have her back for one more day.

Max, I stand corrected. Yes, I will have a certain amount of play or blow money. A certain percentage possibly. For entertainment purposes. Maybe take a cruise up to Alaska or South to Mexico. Get out of Fresno, CA after collecting and let the media frenzy dissipate.

I'd buy a really nice house in the country surrounded by woods and a stream where the closest neighbor is 10 miles away. I'd buy a really nice ATV vehicle and just have fun on my property which would be 40 acres at a minimum. The rest of my money would sit in several banks. I don't need all sorts of high priced financial planners or lawyers. I'm a simple man.

You do have the two letter abbreviation for Power Ball correct, PB. But the common abbreviation for Mega Millions is MM. Just as LP Member is short for Lottery Post member.

It's fun to dream. If I won PB or MG, I would use the money to support education for all my nieces and nephews. I also like to help my siblings and relatives. I will probably not purchase anything expensive for at least a year.
