Thanks for all the replies. To be honest, I was only being slightly facetious in the questioning. That's why I asked, why does it seem, versus why do only. I know things aren't always the way it seems.

And yes I understand prayers and the lottery may not produce the results right then or if ever. Not to mention, gambling and all.

It's more likely because some of our members don't understand the next to impossible odds against them. It's true eventually PB and MM will produce jackpot winners, but not every drawing, every week, or even every month. After playing Ohio Lotto games for years with odds less than 14 million to one it was clear to us how difficult winning PB or MM is.

People have what's called Expendable Income , meaning they earn money to pay the bills, but they also make more than enough to accommodate an extracurricular activity like betting on the lottery. Venture Capital is a worldwide strategy used by the Hot Shots, like Scouts looking for Entrepreneurs.

I do the same, but obviously with much less money.

Earning good money does not always equal being happy in the job. Winning the lottery can change that.

They're not afraid of winning.

They're not worried about mo money mo trouble.

They don't sabotage their play to ensure they lose.

They play to win the jackpot, not small prizes.

I think, everybody that has a good paying does not mean they love their job. I have a good paying job, but I don't like working for people, I would rather be a lottery winner and own a dream house in Rancho Santa fe Ca. And to answer you question, May-be they have the money to play more numbers on every draw, it was 20 people that won the powerball.

It's because the draws are random. The lottery machines doesn't pick winners based on class and what they already own. It pick the winners because they got the correct numbers.

The jackpot envy bug is popping up more and more lately among LP members. Maybe it's because they follow lottery results more closely than other players and think they are more entitled to a big win than the actually winners because they don't look like them or live in their neighborhood.

NeedyNotGreedy: There are a lot of winners who are under the wire meaning that the jackpot is relatively small. By small I mean anything up to 60-100 million but more often a lot less. They claim their winnings and disappeared, picked up the check, and disappeared again. None appeared rich or gave the appearance that they had a career as opposed to just a job. Many were in their 30s or 40s.

I don't have a career at all. Never did. Things happen. I am always on the move in different places in the Philadelphia area. Okay so they won. that is cool and good for them.

If you won $24 hey its $24. A month and a half ago I won $10 on two numbers. Months before I won $25.

The last powerball drawings on the last wed if I had the pb number I would have won $110 more dollars. No one said it was easy.

Sorry, I don't believe in using prayer to win a lottery. I won't use it for myself and I certainly can't use it for anyone else.

llinois lottery, 1984 (way before multi state games), a printer in Chicago won $43,000,000. He said he was going top keep working but that didn't last too long.

One of many.

If you watch The Lottery Changed My Life shows on TLC there was another guy in Illinois who didn't have a car and ask a friend for a ride to the lottery office to claim his winnings.

True, true. I agree with everyone.

Though to be clear, I'm not so much feeling sorry for myself or being negative. I'm just speaking in general. Most big national jackpot wins seem to be people who aren't really doing too bad. At the same time, I may be getting unrealistically impatient...as like one poster, 30 YEARS and no jackpot is probably quite common. Though, I couldn't see myself going that long.

1. Life isn't fair.

2. Most people have selective memories.

3. Plenty of people who barely have a pot to piss in have won, including some of the most famous winners.

4. It's possible that people who already have more money spend more on tickets, which would give them a better chance of winning. That's probably more true for really large jackpots, where some people spend $100 and more.

If you have negative feelings you attract negative things. These people are no different than you. Instead of looking at the bad side look at the positive side 20 people won a jackpot. I am happy about that fact. I am happy these people were playing each week and their dreams come true. It gives me hope that I too can win the jackpot. It's been several years, so I don't remember the details, but there was a guy in N. Dakota, maybe S. Dakota, that was going to lose his farm, house, and he won MM or PB. Another guy that worked at a convenience store, so you know he didn't make much money, bought 5 lines for PB, won millions. The TV station and lottery officials were already at the store to do a story about it and he showed up. He wasn't even sure he won. And, who can forget Marie and Hot Sauce ? This was not the first time they played. They kept playing through the losses until they got lucky and won. Just keep playing until you win. I try to always have a lottery ticket. Persist, don't give up.

Maybe their energy draws winning? Just thinking that perhaps their life is going better and that they win the lottery on top of it may be a result of positive thinking and actions in other areas of their life. In other words, the win is just a continuation of them bringing positive energy into their lives. When you're down and out, you carry negativity into all aspects of your life. So I'm in Tennessee this week and the news has been all the buzz with the 20 Powerball winners of the 400 million something. Co-workers at a probably multi-million dollar company, seems like they take home decent paychecks and probably already have all the creature comforts they need.
