If they don't get mad if you win, they'll try to sell you more.

Id be worried that if a store has AKs, you never know if you hand over your $500 ticket and they take it and pull the Ak out and say get the snip out of the store lol. I mean, it's been known for stores to rip off customers lotto wins.

But seriously I think it protects the winner also. Say you cash a $500 lotto ticket at Kum N Go or Quickie Mart and walk out the door and another customer or not follows you out and bops you u... [ More ]

7/11 by me, I have no problem cashing tickets. Occasionally they will ask me to wait a few minutes till the timer on the drop safe allows them to open it.

If I'm cashing a large amount at any store and they ask me to come back the next day, because they don't have enough cash on hand, I can do that.

If a store won't even cash an $80 box ticket, then I won't go there.

Right, so, always know that, although you purchase your ticket at their store, you can not cash it there.

Quick trip in Missouri cashed my tickets, years ago, up to $350.00. Then, one day, they said, I can no longer cash it for the full amount, unless you want it in Money order?

I was like, No Thank you , I just have to wait until the next day.

So, although I purchase tickets, when I get gas, at the Quick trip, I know if it's a winner, I will not be cashing it there.

I can go to my l... [ More ]

That has happened to me several times at payomatic in NY they would only give you money orders and they need your Id to cash your ticket. Some stores don't want to pay your ticket and they get mad when you win that has been my experience in NY the retailer get upset with your winning ticket. I have reported some stores because they don't want to pay up. If 711 can't pay its customers and other stores don't want to pay its customers they should not sell NY lottery they either respect their regula... [ More ]

I get that it's for security purposes but I've always been under the assumption that every convenience store, gas station, supermarket, etc, that sells lottery tickets and has lottery machines installed are supposed to pay out winnings (in NY, the max payout is $600).

Also, wouldn't lottery machines installed in convenience stores act as a lure and not a deterrent?

I don't know....I just don't think that those types of stores should have anything to do with the lottery. Or at the very leas... [ More ]

The money probably goes into a drop safe that can't be opened. It's really for security. If bad guys know a c-store has thousands of $$$ on hand, it's easy to rob. I almost always buy my tix at a c-store, and if I have a ticket worth more than $50, I'll just take it to the Tom Thumb grocery store to cash it. No big deal.

So I had a $290 winner and went to cash it in and was going to purchase a money order for $200 with the winnings but they wouldn't do it. Their policy is to not have $50.00 in cash on hand at any given time.

So does that mean that every time there is $50 in the register they immediately go to the bank with it?

And why would a convenience store have lottery machines installed to take in customers sales and then say they can't pay a winning lottery ticket?

What and where do their lottery... [ More ]

Circle k here in mcminnville is like that they will only cash winnings up to a certain point and then you will have to take a money order or go some were else. So I beat them at their game and take my business elsewhere to big apple market for $100 to $200 in winnings and then to albertson's grocery store for really big wins like over $200 to $600. To their customer service center inside the store.-weshar75

Apparently 7-11 allows players to play the lottery in their stores but if you win you cannot cash in the winning ticket. You would have to go somewhere else to claim your winnings, even if they are nominal.

Anyone ever heard of this and does it make sense to have a lottery machine in a location that cannot pay its winners?

Are there other stores/locations that allow this
