Based on what she said, 2 of the younger kids were put on psych meds because they acted out after their father died. I imagine it must have been something disturbing because psych meds aren't forced on kids otherwise.

She claimed what they did was the result of the trauma of losing their father, and that they'd settle down. She was told the kids had to take the meds. According to her, someone told child services that she'd stopped giving the kids the meds and she thinks it was her sister.... [ More ]

She never bought the plane. She was never going to buy the plane. It was strictly for television purposes only. Bert Dickerson won $4.8 million and was looking at $3+ million houses on the show. He too was never actually going buy one of those homes. It was done for ratings.

TLCML is like most episodes of Real Housewives. The dream homes are rented, the diamonds are paste and the vehicles are leased. It's all for appearances, it's not real. Consider them alternative facts.

The Ficks from Michigan weren't one of my favorite success stories but rank right up there with David Lee Edwards as top cautionary tales of how not to behave. Yes, the Morrisons were right there as well as positive favorites and I am glad they won in court.

I dont doubt the fiance had something, make that everything, to do with it. Especially once he married her, that money was half his and would not condone the spending. I can only imagine how HE changed from what we saw on tv. The sad part was her goal of getting the kids together and raising them and she let the golddigger into her life and dictate. Purely my opinion but i have seen this situation play out so many times, and not just lottery win... [ More ]

I think they were temporarily removed because she had a hoarding problem. Her church helped her buy or rent a house and the kids were returned. Shortly after she won her jackpot, the oldest turned 18 and left to live with his mom in Vegas. Later, 2 other kids went to live with her dad. I got the impression the fiance caused friction with the children.

Go on youtube and look up Lottery Hangover, originally aired January 2016. She candidly discusses her bankruptcy.

It's doubtful she's actually broke. She's probably trying to protect her remaining assets.

Only the earlier shows and interviews of her don't mention the split with her father and brother, all the later ones do. She's publicly stated that that were helping her when she was broke. Redd, I was pretty sure Geffen was in the biilionaire status but didnt want to post something inaccurate. I remember the days when he used to date Cher and handled her music career. He began as a record producer before he got into movies. If I recall correctly it was right after Sony and Cher split in the early 1970's.

Now I dont know if he handles (no pun intended or ??) musicians but I know he doesnt date women anymore.

Thanks for that info, I never saw the Discovery Family show. I wouldnt mention that loser Lanre's name either he was nothing but an opportunist. However, she HAD to know he was only after her for the money. We dont know but it appears he brought Nothing to that relationship, but left with Plenty. IMO her mistake was MARRYING him. California is a community property state.

He's a multi-billionaire. She donated it to one of his charities that brings theater to kids or something. I think she thought it may have been away to get her foot in the door in Hollywood in that she would be able to network with people in the business.

While some of these lottery stories are quite sad, the benefit for those of us looking in from the outside is a wealth of do's and don'ts. Anyone who hasn't learned anything by viewing the mistakes of others doesn't deserve to be wealthy.

Some of my favorite episodes are the hotel millionaire, Brade Duke and the ice skater turned restaurant/bar owner. I think it has been almost 20 years and she is still doing well, she closed her sweet water restaurant but opened up several other places.... [ More ]

Last year or the year before Discovery Family aired lottery changed my life with updates and Cynthia said she was no longer with him and that she will not even mentioned his name .. I think when the money started drying up.. he ran for the hills perhaps.. I don't think she is flat out broke but the filling for bankruptcy helps protects what left she have... Yes, that is what I meant. Cynthia got 50%, her father 25%, and brother 25%. Thanks for clearing it up. The way I wrote it was confusing. The final $20 million after-tax figure that I calculated was based on Cynthia receiving half of the jackpot.

She took half and her brother and father split the other half. Hopefully, the Geffen Foundation has given her a paying job. She was put on one of their boards after she generously and foolishly donated $1 million dollars to them.

I didn't realize that Cynthia Stafford had filed for bankruptcy.

While looking up info on her bankruptcy, I found that she had split the winnings with her father and brother, each of them supposedly getting 25%. Cynthia didn't work the five years leading up to the lottery win and I think her father and brother helped her. There is a video on Vimeo about an Oregon family that won $8.2 million. When they wanted to take in two of their nephews, the state made one of them give up their job.... [ More ]

Only difference I saw was they begin @ 6:00 a.m. And the last one at 10:00 a.m. PST. In the past it usually began at 9:00 a.m. PST.

Heads up lottery changed my life fans.. I just checked my listings and it's airing again this Saturday on TLC from 6am-11am.. that's not right.. on Saturday's I usually wake up around noon lol. And one of the episodes they are showing is the fan favorite the eligible bachelor Leroy and his son .. I wonder do he and his son look at the episode and then the son go remember when we had money dad? and then the dad

Quite a few. The gay couple who went house hunting; Brad Duke; the guy who bought the tepee hotels, the guy who bought into the Nascar team; that couple who won the lawsuit against the city (their restaurant went bust but they still have buckets of money left), the Vietnamese guy who built houses for his sons all in the same area, those are just the ones I remember off the top of my head.

I caught it very late. Apparently they started at 6am EST. I don't recall them ever starting a TLCML marathon that early before but at least I caught a couple before the wedding dress nonsense came on. How many times can they air that show and what exactly do they think we're learning from it?
