Number systems...what gives?

While I am not a top level regular I am a little baffled by the number of references to systems, pyramids and so forth for the draw games.

Powerball, mega millions, pick 6....These are all random events, it happens or it does not (as in most cases).

So if this is a grouping of people who know more about the lotteries than the I played it for the first time and won player I don't understand the preoccupation with such systems .
