If you are in France they won't refuse to sell you tickets. Same when I was in Manhattan, they wanted to sell me lottery tickets. They probably will pay wins. The problem is getting it taxed and eventually move the money to the bank account in the country where you are living. I never had a problem moving money from one bank to another. So if you can buy tickets there, then the question is, why wouldn't it be legal to buy tickets there online? One reason might be security with online procedures.... [ More ]

It's annoying, but does show that it's a real company and not a scammer. There are always creative ways to get around that, it just depends on how badly you want to do it. Frankly, I'm amazed they don't allow US payments for foreign games. Since they don't mail the tickets to you (you get a scanned copy), there is nothing legally wrong with doing it that I can think of.

Thanks Todd. I just got an email back from them saying the US was barred from registration due to strict regulations but they hoped the law here would change someday.

Hmm. That's interesting. It was Todd who told me about the bank account thing, and since I used to have a off shore bank account I was going to see if I could use it to buy some tickets through them. But if they're using IP addresses to determine location and denying on that alone, I won't bother.

Is it illegal because you're a US citizen or because you're using a US bank account? I was given to understand that Americans could play as long as purchases weren't made via a US financial institution's account.

Oh right, I think Todd mentioned that that's because some kind of banking regulations where us institutions are wary of gambling providers.

I don't know if you can fund your account using Neteller or Skrill or some other payment processor.

I think the Viking has great odds. It's always a trade-off of keeping many irons in small fires are one big iron in one big fire. Agentlotto has single lien entries into some of the lotteries, so that's what I prefer.

I don't know about taxes in France. It could be that they tax the winnings as they like to tax rich people.
