As for scratchers, really believe best place to buy is smaller towns at chain convenience stores. Like last of the batch.....As for QP's don't buy them any more, because don't like the krapy RNG they build into the computer....

I've read she had an understanding of how the lottery distributed their scratch-offs. They must have changed what they were doing since she's no longer winning. Maybe random is as chaotic as most like to think.

Joan Ginther who won multiple scratch-off jackpots and some from the same retailer, took advantage of the remaining jackpot prizes by buying all the tickets from a store betting a jackpot winner was in the next batch of tickets sent to the store. It was an expensive strategy but she made a profit.

It seems like there are a lot of winners from Houston, but that also is where the biggest population is. As for scratchers, I seen winning tickets from the most remote places of the state as well as major cities.

If you buy scratch-offs then it may make a difference where you buy them since the lottery pick their locations which they claim are done randomly which is why I seldom buy them. With drawings, their winners can be from anywhere.

When you look at states with the most people (CA, TX, FLA, NY, PA IL) it shouldn't surprise anyone as to why we see so many MM/PB jackpot winners in those states.

Then you look at MN... a state with 5.5 million people and ranked 22nd in terms of population, and the cities that have the most people (Minneapolis/St Paul) don't sell the most winners? How the heck do you figure that? G5

Well I noticed that small towns in Michigan win but mostly only the ones in the lower half of the lower peninsula.

S.E. Michigan (Metro Detroit) gets most of the winners overall (population)

When you get in the Upper Peninsula the big winners are in Delta county with a big Mega Millions win and the biggest Club Keno win in the U.P.

They have also had some big scratch winners.

Houghton County has also had a big Mega Million Win.

Gonna be passing through IA, NE on the way out; maybe pick up some on the way.

Here in the state of New York, seems like it's the reverse of MN.

The majority of online winning tickets are sold in NYC. As for upstate, it's Buffalo.

But then more tickets are sold in the NYC Metro/Long Island area, so I'm not surprised. G5

Yeah, we travel MN and try to pick up some plays in the Rural and Suburb areas.

We go to St. Cloud once in a while; occasionally we are in the Suburbs of the Cities, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and pick up a few with mild results.

Yes, I believe demographics plays a part in it.

In Missouri, the small towns get a lot of the big winners, places I never heard of.

But, I know a lot of people in City of St. Louis, that has won big money, on Powerball and Scratch offs.

Sometimes, I travel out of my area, just to buy quick picks, if I keep getting duped!

We divided the data into Online, Scratch and Raffle.

It seem this might depend on which kind of game you're playing.

Below is a table of the different game types, places and prizes.

The table is approximate based on what available data we could extract.

The Place can be either where the win was purchased or the winner's city/town.
