Officials say faulty light fixture caused Bellagio fire

Damage from a roof fire the night prior is worked on at Bellagio hotel-casino on Friday, April 14, 2017, in Las Vegas. Early estimates damages @$500,000.

A Thursday night fire at the Bellagio was accidental and caused by a faulty light fixture, Clark County officials said in a statement Tuesday.

The light fixture was on an exterior wall of the north retail wing of the building, according to the county.

Bellagio Fire Shuts Down Strip Traffic-

A rooftop fire at the Bellagio hotel on the Las Vegas Strip on Thursday night forced the temporary closure of the boulevard but resulted in no injuries, officials said.

The fire was reported at 10:46 p.m., and firefighters arrived on the scene four minutes later, Clark County officials said in a statement. It described the firefighting efforts as extremely difficult because of the location.
