I myself use windows 10 pro and just got a update yesterday for the windows 10 creator I did check and the version of generator was running the 4.5 but one of my file settings was different than the picture above it was the form1 versus the program name. But this thread was just to show an old man can learn vb i have been busy today as my wife just got back from vacation so have had alot of running to do. So now back to my learning.

This is not my thread for me to take over and I sure don't like to argue too much, but:

I am not so much a developer of anything as I do am an end user.

It seems to me that like myself, most people are end users and not developers, I do after all was talking about most people.

The software programs that I have can do just fine with from 1 to 2 Gigas of ram memory, even if I had a 64 bit machine and operating system and I don't, it would be a waste of memory having more than 3 Gigas of r... [ More ]

I agree 100% with Novan60.

From an end user viewpoint (sans security risks), XP rocks! From a developers viewpoint, I gotta go with Win10.

Actually you can't do more with your XP computer than what I can do with my Windows 10 computer. I can develop so much more now in Windows 10 than I could in XP. The fact that XP can't leverage the functionality available in 4.5 automatically puts it at a huge disadvantage. I'm capable of doing things now that XP simply could not handle.

Don't worry about it.

Most people now no longer use Windows XP, I do, because it can still do most of the things that I want it to do.

After all, it is not so much on the hardware that is inside the computer and on its operating system (Windows), but on the software programs that can work with it and there are thousands or maybe even millions of software programs that work on just about any Windows XP computer.

You can access the framework settings by opening the properties of the project. In general you do not want to flip back and forth between frameworks and it is definitely not something I would do to accommodate an XP machine.

I was excited that it worked Winsumloosesum has inspired me to learn even at my old age but it has been a learning curve for sure as for the sharing it is nothing impressive like RL'S programs but it is a start so i can build the one i want that will be the impressive one. Thanks

I think the older version of vb is earlier version of framework but vb2015 uses like 4.5.1 but this program was not going to impress you as you have one that is probably better. This is a generic RNG and i was excited it even worked. Im not sure how to roll back framework to earlier version so it can work on xp if i download it then my vb maynot work at all not sure. i will look into it in the am tho. Sorry.

That one will only do 9 numbers instead of 10 on the keno when i found that out i had to chane some of the code so it was the one before the code change but i think everything else is fine.

I ran it for quick draw in indiana and produced ten lines the top three lines had 16 of the 20 numbers they draw so if a person was to wheel the top three lines they may win a good chunk of change.

It only is a install of the program it installs in about a second. Just in vb it was the default so i could publish it but it is only the executable for the program.

I use a different flavor of Basic for most of my programs, and 525kb's seems high to me for 500 lines of code. I'd be willing to take a look at your number generator but first I'd like to ask you what all is involved in the setup

All the best with it, I love the flexibility of writing my own stuff and find it much more flexible then using Access or Excel. I posted a lot of VB code in https://www.lotterypost.com/thread/310911

BTW, here is the VB code I use to generate random numbers which allows for numbers that include 0. I wrapped it in a class library so that I don't have to write the same code over and over again.

I am learning the programming language and this was just something i threw together not much to see on screen shot but ill try to figure that out in a minute.

The program was intended for fl fantasy 5 and larger but i made it so it would do the pick games too just not sure where to put the code for the -1. part you refer to. Sorry im new to this.

How about some screen shots? Not all of us are eager to download exe's that we cannot see the source code to.

Kind of curious as to what this issue was with creating a number with 0 as an option. At worst you could generate numbers between 1 and 10 and then just subtract -1 from the results.

This is a cheap number generator i built as i am trying to learn code. Click f1 to get numbers and f2 to delete. This will do everything from pick 2 to pick 10 from 1-99 in the p2,3,4,5 daily games i havent figured out how to get it to produce a zero so in the input you have to use 10 as your highest number. This is just for some learning for me as i plan one that is way better but this is just teaching myself code so play with it and enjoy.
