The people with plans for claiming imaginary jackpots anonymously probably never had a W2-G. Because if they had, they would know the clerk validating their ticket saw their drivers license with full name and address along with their SS number. And there is that pesky Freedom of Information Act too. Oh and in some states winners over $600 must sign and have notarized they owe no child support or back taxes.

Maybe they think anonymity means nobody will know how much they won including the IRS... [ More ]

We all know the odds....

It's all statistics, chance, luck....or whatever.

People come here to socialize, be educated, bounce off ideas....and sometimes just vent ( you?).

I play knowing the chance is one in many many millions....but if it SHOULD ever happen, I know I would want to be anonymous. I travel from time to time and as my State is not an one that lets me keep the news to myself, I would prefer to buy in a state that does.....

Another member said the same thing last year or so, and that person just like you, doesn't realize how many people who come to this site and really don't grasp the high odds against them. You and the seasoned veterans may, but a lot more don't truly understand the astronomical odds. If you don't believe me, just waft through the lottery discussion pages and you'll see terms like... There should be a vote in every state and commonwealth. If the person wants to remain anonymous that is their right and choice. Simple as that. too much social media and who knows what else. Good topic.

Except that you're stating a fact every single person here is already acutely aware of. Do you believe you're the only one privy to that information? Do you also stand beside department store Santa Clauses to yell about them not being real?

I hang out on this site mainly to interact with ideas such as strategies in smaller games like the Pick-3. I also emphasize that there's a big difference between small and big games. Big JP wins are only attainable to 1% of the people who bet in their entire lifetime. Excuse me for stating facts, but If facts is being negative, then I'll be labeled negative.

I never understood how so many people prepare for a JP win, as If it's a Given ... Just a matter of time . ...Sorry, it doesn't work that way.

Planning for a wedding is normal......Planning for a luncheon.....etc....

This is all after the fact. 99.9% of the people who play on a regular basis for decades seemingly without end, will NEVER win in their entire lifetime. Planning for a JP is like buying personal injury insurance in case a meteorite hits your head.

I just read an article dated March 2017 that a bill allowing anonymous winners passed a vote in the house (wv) and was being forwarded to the Senate.

Anyone here from wv with more info.

I also read Idaho killed such a bill.

There should be a vote on a similar bill in Michigan to....they allow anonymity for mi games but not the multistage draw games....boo hoo
