The California Lotto used to post videos online of the drawing but about 2 years ago, they stopped posting them because of cost cutting reasons. That was a stupid move in my opinion because there will always be conspiracy theorists who will think it's rigged.

I mean it's 2017 almost everyone has a camera in their smart phone. They couldn't have someone record the drawing and post it on youtube? It would take 10 minutes max.

Agree that the second prize in MM/PB are enticing but since Calif does the pari-mutuel system, it is rare to have a prize over $1 mil. However, I noticed that the PB second prize has jumped up to $1,241,894. This means it will probably be $1.5 mil on Wed. What a difference a large jackpot makes to the second prize!

There are few wins because the odds are over 1 in 41 million.

That's why I always have a ticket in PB and MM. Not just for the big jackpot, but because the odds of hitting the million dollar second prize is way better than the state lotto odds. At my age, $600k after taxes would set me up for retirement.

I believe they had the same promotion about 6 months or less ago. A sign that ticket sales have dropped? Do other states do these promos?

Currently, the jackpot is at $44 million but the number of jackpots per year, even tho they have not changed the odds, have dropped drastically.

It's a dull game. Jackpot goes up a million each time it rolls over which I believe is more than most states but there are so few wins. It starts at $7 mil so it takes time to build up. Last year it was 9 month... [ More ]
