i'm agreeing. sad but, true. they can allow much more to win over 100 million easy,and still have much left over to get their share back ala taxes et.al..,

I do play a small fraction of these groups. In fact, I only play 10 sets of numbers I am happy with my selection of 10 sets. When I look at any given jackpot game, I usually go back 3 year for my data. With the IL Lotto, which is the exception to my rule, I go back to 1998. Bottom line is that when 574 groups make up 87% of the total drawings going back to 1998 - I believe that is enough of back testing. I'd really like to see 1,2,3,4,5 +6 or some other very popular combination come up as the winning numbers. There'd be a certain amount of humor in reading the news reports about people who told their bosses what they really think of them before finding out they shouldn't have quit their jobs, but I'd really be interested to see how many winners there would be.

All state game result are dependent on the Power (BALL) and that particular state's place location (not the state's geo location) for Thur, Fri, Sun, Mon and Tues results, AND conversely on the Mega (BALL) for Sat and Wed. Each state's place location is either 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.

You say every drawing in June matched one of the 574 groups. However, playing even a small fraction of those regularly would be costly unless you knew which tiny fraction of those 574 to play.

Also, 1 in 1311 of hitting for $50 or so (prize varies) for 4 out of 6 is a lousy payout, though understandable, since it's a jackpot game. Seeking out particular groups of combinations makes sense to win back a little for more play, but does it meaningfully help...

Thank you for your comment. However; you keep on looking at the odds for the given game while I keep looking at the chances of winning a game. These are two different scenarios. The odds of winning a game cannot be changed as it is a mathematical formula based on the number of balls used in the game. But, you can improve your chances of winning by knowing which combinations come in the most often within a given game. Here is what I stated above:

Shooting for Match-5 in PB or MM is logical, since it's many times more likely. However, from a financial standpoint, it's a lousy bet, since the odds are so bad compared to what they once were. Several years ago, odds of Match-5 was 1 in 3.9 million for MM and something like 1 in 5.3 million for PB. Take a look at what the odds are now. Yes the most I have won was on the IL Little lotto known now as the Lucky Day Lotto. It was a 3 way split, and my share was 76K. I have also hit around 5 times on the IL Lotto. Not the Jackpot prize, but 5 of 6. In each case my winnings were between 1.5K and 2.5K.

When I play the Mega Millions or the Power ball games. My goal is not to win the grand prize. I just shoot for 5 out of 5. I'm shooting for the 1 million dollar prize. My Math was completely off back there. Try 3,240 stadiums with a capacity crowd of 80,000 people a piece, and having ONE winner, from all of those stadiums combined. That's the odds we talking about here.

Lottery machines along with the balls are man made. Balls are put in a certain order, machine is turned on, balls drop, spindles turn, balls fall out. From start to finished, the entire process takes less then 15 seconds. Combinations Patters do form, even if they use multiple machines and different sets of balls. The only way the Lottery can be totally random is if it is handled in a complete vacuum environment I doubt that this will ever happen.

When l read of folks saying their are patterns to combinations when talking about PB or MM,l honestly don't know what that means. I once read that it's very easy for us humans to imagine odds of 1-50, because if we are in a room with 49 people, we simple take ourselves from the equation and we get the picture, we really do. There are 208 PB MM drawings held in a single year. The odds of winning the jackpots are 1 in 258 million or higher. Which means that on average, each distinct set of numbers should come in once every 1.25 million years or so. Bottom line, you can play 1 through 6 and they're just as likely to win as any other set of 6 numbers, but you'd better be in it for the long haul.

It's just like the casinos. Everything is computerized and random. I have seen a close bunch of numbers as you posted. In fact a member on here did post that type of sequence of numbers.

The closest is the lottery pyramid. In one of the pyramids I was able to guess not play 4 out of 5 of them.

In a way, every combination of numbers has exactly the very same chance to come out on every drawing, pre, winning and post and this is the truth.

Yet, statistics, to the person who really knows how to use them, will show you, that if you use the right prediction logic, there might be some combinations and or groups of combinations that might have a greater chance than others to come out at a given time or at given times than do other(s) combinations.

On 11/09/96 01 03 05 06 35 +38 hit PB and on 09/20/02 01 02 04 05 46 +08 hit MM. No six sequenced numbers has ever won any lottery which covers more sets than 1-6.

While the odds are the same, the play distribution by other players isn't. Many play common sequences (1, 2, 3 ...; 5, 10, 15 ...) and/or patterns on the playslip (row, line, etc). Lets hope such numbers never come up in MM or PB, because even lower tier prizes can go para-mutuel, if there is an excessive number of winners...

Imagine 1,000 players splitting a $100 million jackpot with each only receiving $100K while Match-5 prize tier paying say $1K instead of $1 million; likely even less in... [ More ]

I just realized since the Powerball and Mega Millions are chosen using a mechanical pinball machine, that you would have the same chances of winning if you chose the numbers 01 02 03 04 05 06 yet I've never seen a drawing with those numbers, which just shows how unlikely you are to win with any combination of numbers.

Am i correct in my logic
