Referring to his selected time frame:

6915 drawings!?! That's almost 19 years! Sounds like a full-time job to me, but I examined the cards and noticed you can play 14 days in advance, so one trip every two weeks to play might not be too bad. Then again, $4465 for 19 years of work doesn't sound too great.

But, at least it's possible

Where did that 19-20 years to cover all 575,757 combinations come from? RC5 is a daily game with a single drawing each day. 575,757/365 = 1,758 yrs.

Interesting, but probability does not equate betting. Probability pretty much depends on momentary data. Every draw of cash 5/39 has initial data of 575,757(actually is 39!/5, then 38!/4 ..., draw without replacement). Your assumption that each combo should be out within 19 years is plausible in theory(normal distribution curve)--You may have each of these combos hitting before 19 years or after 20 years !. A player looks for anomalies of the curve before waging. Initial data is critical before

Yes, because I wrote the program to answer a single question. I don't know enough about lottery theory to even understand why the thing you just said is important or useful, so I never would have thought to code that as well. And considering the program took two solid days of computer time to run the first time, I'm unlikely to visit it again anytime soon. And I'm going to stop talking about it now to avoid any new ideas popping into my head that I'll have to devote another two days of computer... [ More ]

So I took every possible play from 01-02-03-04-05 through 35-36-37-38-39 and compared each of them to ALL of the existing Rolling Cash 5 drawings (4517 drawings from 10/4/2001 through 7/2/2017).

4517/365 = 12.4 Since RC5 is drawn daily, that makes it more likely your file started 10/04/04 same as mine, besides on 10/04/2001 Buckeye5 drew 01 07 11 28 31.

The database I use starts on 1/28/1997 for the evening draw and 8/16/1999 for the mid-day draw. I did make a mistake somewhere though, because I have 6915 drawings for the evening and only 6120 drawings for the mid-day. I might have just typed it wrong. I'll have to go check that out later today...

Interestingly enough, it turns out that you CAN turn a profit playing Pick 3 in Ohio. But I'm not sure if it would be worth the work!

If you had started playing Pick 3 in Ohio from the beginning, $1 dollar a day on 6-0-1 straight, you'd be up $1585 after 6915 drawings. In the mid-day Pick 3 game, if you played $1 a day on 6-1-0 straight (interesting coincidence), you'd be up $2880 after 6915 drawings.

6915 drawings!?! That's almost 19 years!

I've been playing the Ohio Rolling Cash 5 game for years, and I recently started wondering if there was any single play (series of five numbers) that could be played every day (so just $1 a day being spent) that would, in the long run, win more than it loses (NOT including hitting the jackpot, which obviously would put me in the win column for good). Could I spend just $1 a day playing the same numbers each day and win more than I lose over the long run? Most people would just assume not, but be... [ More ]
