$10 Million(after taxes) would be enough to put into preferred stocks to generate dividend income without using the principle. For example, if you were to buy 200,000 shares of HSBC common stock at $50 a share, it would cost you $10 Million. But the stock generates $2.50 as an annual dividend. It would give you a yearly income of $500K, of which you only pay Federal Taxes because its dividend income you are getting.

$20 Million lump sum. After taxes, I should have around $12 Million, which I would invest $10 Million into Blue Chip Stocks and $2 Million into Preferred Stocks for dividend income. I hope that the $10 Million I placed into the stock market becomes over $100 Million in 30 years. All of which will be in a Trust, so when I die, the Estate Taxes will be avoided, as well as the notion that none of my kids will get a penny out of it.

10 million wd get me a nice house and enough to live on for the rest of my days. I would still have to move to a cheaper area. Housing prices continue to rise. A million bucks wd get you a dump in my area. it's insane as are the property taxes.

Anything over $1million would be good enough for me. I might not be able to retire on that, but I could buy a decent house outright and work jobs I actually like when I like instead of being forced to join the everyday grind of being another cog in the corporate machine. $5million or more and I'd just walk out of my job without looking back.

You are right! I am surprised,since you can collect all funds less taxes. So silly to make an inaccurate statement. Naturally they do have the annuity 'option' for some instant tickets or the cash4life.. The multi state jackpots allow for cash vs annuity.

Mine will be cash and dash. I've zero desire or need for financial advice.

Having hundreds of millions of dollars would be fantastic, but I could be happy with far less than that. How much less? I dunno, but I do know I'd be happy. What I want the most in life is to be happy. I'm happy now, but I wouldn't mind being just a tad happier. G5

I would be happy with 6 figures but a million dollar prize is great too. Honestly if I won enough to buy a house paid off and retire early, I'd be happy. Ultimate goal is pay off debts, buy a home and travel. I'd be great with winning just a million dollars from the Powerball instead of the top prize of 650 millions (not to say I wouldn't take it too) lol.
