California, Texas, New York, and Florida are the four most populous states in the U.S.

Michigan is in the Top 10. Massachusetts is in the Top 15.

First you should mention which game you are talking about since most states have their own games that offer million dollars prizes in addition to offering the multi-state games MM and PB. The information is available if you care enough to spend time gathering it.

The cash value of the jackpots are shared by the 44 lottery participating jurisdictions, but all the secondary prizes belong to the individual lotteries. California pays out their secondary MM and PB prizes pari-mutually and their last 5 + 0 PB winner gets $137,236 instead of the $1 million prize.

The number of winners in a lottery has an approximate Poisson distribution, and the expected number of winners is the number of tickets sold divided by the number of ways to win.

If you took the time to search the forum you should see many similar conspiracy threads like yours.

To answer your question, every ticket bought in any state have equal chance of winning, there is just more people living in some states. If you had one state with 1 resident and one state with 1 million residents, which state would have most of the winners? Of course the one with 1 millions. it's just simple probablistics.

I see some states that are Grand Prize and/or 1 Million cash winners, these states are

NY, Ca, Fl, Tx, Ma, Mi and others.

Why is this happening while other states pitch in money to buy ticket. Is there reasons for it.

As a suggestion you have or have access to bank of data available and you could provide

the data as the states were winners , grand prize and $ 1million assigned to them.

I hope you could do this for the last five years. We will like to know how the money is rolling... [ More ]
