I guess you are looking at the wrong link. If you look at my post above and click the very first link at the beginning of my post, there are the El Gordo ( Loteria de Navidad ) tickets for purchase. The drawing is on Dec. 22 this year.

There is other Spanish lottery games available that are drawn every week, so you're just looking at the wrong one.

Am I looking at the wrong info on the link? I can clearly see where El Gordo tickets are for sale on the site but it is for a weekly Sunday drawing. Do they sell the Christmas El Gordo. Please excuse my ignorance.

Thanks for information! I was looking for a lottery provider to play ElGordo, but most of them are very unclear as for the winning commission and the tax issue. I think I'll check the link posted above, it seems to be reliable

Some lotteries already do an El Gordo-style raffle periodically. But I don't think there will ever be an El Gordo SIZED raffle in the USA, because in Spain it is a cultural thing, and nearly the entire country plays. In the USA games like Powerball and Mega Millions are more culturally adapted, with a jackpot that one person can win. (In Spain, the top El Gordo prize is smaller than a typical USA jackpot, and is won by many people.

Would do lottery officials to consider a El Gordo style ticket re-structuring so many more players would be able to participate in the win prizes and consequently would increase lotto sales nationwide.
