No need to refresh anything. How many $25 prize tickets are in a brand new book of 50 tickets for the $10 game Set for Life. The 1.7 is how many $25 winning prizes should be in the book of 50. Divide 50 by 27.78 which are the odds for winning a $25 prize. The overall odds of winning any prize are still 1:3.95. It was really quite a simple example. $25 get 1.7 in each 50 - quite clear by my reading.

This is what you posted a few days ago, maybe it will refresh your memory:

According to the website with the odds of winning a particular prize, everything was about normal, The $20 tickets get 2.7 in each 50, the $25 get 1.7, and of course then there was the $100 which is 1 in every 119.42. So I picked the right one in terms of being on the better side of odds, but in no way will those odds ever lean in your favor without getting extremely extremely lucky.

It is quite clear in my post that I was buying $10 tickets. Nowhere did I mention buying a $25 ticket. I did not feel the name of the game I was playing mattered in my example, but for the sake of your entertainment I was playing the $10 NYL scratch off game Set for Life that has overall odds of 1:3.95 . I don t know where you got your statement from, actually . If ? I have no idea what you re talking about. Because actually the odds of winning on a $25 scratch off ticket called $7,000,000 Cash

I'm also in Orlando area. I think I've only won twice on $5 scratchers. I've a few times with $2 ones. Idk what it is...but the $5 scratchers seem to be extremely hit or miss. Most time miss. I won $25 last week...but since then, no hits.

Ive had a little lotto itch since returning to Florida, but after the last few losses....I'm done for the month lol. Was going to consider spending $10 out of each gig I did, but it's almost not worth buying just 2 tickets sometimes either. But I don't have... [ More ]

If you're referring to the New York State lottery website the odds to win on a $25 ticket are actually one in 3.9.

I have my old scratching ways. For instance if I see a brand new book I like to get the first ticket. If it has something I think the whole book has something better than usual. I'll give an example, I bought #50 from a $10 game with odds of 1:3.95. #50 had a $10 winner on it. Bought the whole book. I got 13 winners in the book which means the odds for that book were 1:3.84. This goes along the line of what I had mentioned in a previous post, how it's harder and harder to win on scratch-offs, hence the lack of posts.

I got taken this past weekend, spent $500 on 20 consecutive $25.00 tickets and won a grand total of $80.00, lost $420.00. This probably wouldn't have happened even a couple of years ago when every third or fourth ticket was a winner (albeit a small one).

Liok I started with scratch offs no question. I used to get excited over winning $20 on a scratch off. $50 my lucky day. But not really, I was naive. I win more money more consistently with $1 pick your numbers games. Much more money. And for the price of all the numbers I play what does that equal to in scratch offs. A lot more. Basically it's getting a lot harder to win......

In 2014 I had a breakout year, hit $500 about 6 or 7 times and a decent amount of 50's and 100's.... I even hit match 6 twice for $1000

in 2015 I had an ok year but I don't think I hit a single 500.... maybe one or two $250's

In 2016 and 2017 I had bad years, didn't play nearly as much but had some really bad streaks. Winning ANYTHING on them became pretty

I don't think that's the reason, he began posting last year and was here for a few months. There are two main reasons.

The biggest reason is how the odds on winning on instant scratch off tickets have tremendously deteriorated over the past couple of years. Many people aren't buying them as much as they had in the past.

Instant scratch off tickets are more popular than ever. Over 50% of all sales for many lotteries. For PA, it's approaching 70%

Similar for Arizona annual lottery sales . . scratchers 70%, Powerball MegaMillions 20%, everything else 10%.

Just very little media hype . . like when the draw games annuitized jackpots reach $300 million for a $2 play . . as compared to $3.5 million for a $30 scratcher, but MUCH better odds

I agree completely as this is likely the case in Florida. Our scratchers are so bad now I rarely play any more. I got to the point where I got excited for breaking even on a $25 scratcher, after getting dud after dud after dud. Florida isn't playing fairly any longer, so I cut way way back and nothing to post.

The overall quality of many posts on LP is low, which discourages some from posting; reducing their time in the forums. Whether that's the main reason, I doubt it, but it certainly could be a large contributor. Likely a bigger reason is some of the instant scratch discussion is occurring in other LP forums, such as Lottery Discussion .

Good to hear from you DR65. I don't get over to the draw games as much as I should, Maybe I need to invest some time there. I have found everything you said as well with PA. It is nerve wracking. Here is another one I hate that just happened to me. I scratch the play area #'s first. I saw 2-9's so I knew I won and was thinking I may have had a bunch more matches. Nope it was just the 2 9's. I know what you mean by how you described it. In PA the instants are set up to confuse people..they have the dyslexic trick, the split 'em trick and

the every 'tens' set instead of the one that matches 'your' tens #.

Dyslexic trick - reverse the numbers to make you look twice but still be frustrated it's not the 23 you need but the 32 you don't...they do it with

12, 13, 14, 23, 24 constantly...it's 21, 31, 41, 32, 42 instead

Split 'em trick...your numbers: 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17,... [ More ]

As for the chairs to $5 jumbo bucks in Tn:

Y all might think it s trivial and/or crazy, but previously when you revealed your 4 numbers st the top, then revealed the 20 numbers to match, as long as one Number showed on the 2nd place-position then it would be a winner.

For example if your numbers are 42 17 34 19

Then while scratching the 20 numbers you see a 2, 7, 4, or 9 (from the 2nd place-position of the numbers above) then there would be a match and therefore a winner. Every. Single.... [ More ]

I can't speak for everyone, but many of the newer games have made it more difficult to win middle-tier prizes like $500 or $1,000. As a result, people are posting fewer wins. The increased difficulty in winning decent prizes results in fewer people playing altogether.

I live and play in TN and I play the $5.00 Jumbo Buck all the time. What changes are you talking about? They changed the number from game 755 to 855 and both still have top prizes.

Seems every time I come to the Scratchers forum, there are less and less topics.

I know I've played lots less since TN changed my favorite $5 jumbo bucks game a few months ago but I still like to play some.

I figure it's because less people are playing scratch offs but maybe there's another reason
