KY, I hope you weren't thinking or saying I was obsessed with it. I was just commenting on it. Money isn't a ruling element in my life at all. I just enjoy playing the games. The difference between a million or a billion isn't going to make me any happier.

I haven't paid that much attention to just who posts about it, but I think that there's just one person with a real obsession about whether or not we'll see another billion dollar jackpot, and a few more that may think that just getting to 300ish means there's a significant chance it will happen. And I'm pretty sure that almost everybody realizes that the talk is about the advertised amount, and that only one person has an obsession with how much the advertised amount would need to be for somebo... If you put more thought to Redd's article, this type of money invites a lot of headaches. There's no way a single person could really manage this type of money alone. To me the idea of winning is winning enough to buy things I normally can't afford, a vacation, a newer car, etc.. I wouldn't want all that money. A few million is just fine for me.

Thanks for that information. I dont have billionitis, I dont really WANT that nor need the headaches that come from the responsibility, but it is hard not to think about having that much money. However, the information about foundations is good to know. So much for setting up a Foundation if one is so inclined. I was not aware and I suppose the same would go for your Trust? I would hope those you leave behind would honor your plans and word. But then you have to be very careful on choosing your

Forgot to say that with these billion dollar jackpots there are more likely to be multiple winners, so you billion dollars is even less than a billion.

A number of you seem to be suffering from it.

First, it takes much more than a billion dollar jackpot to take home a billion bucks. probably need 3x that amount. Second, no one here is a Bill Gates, Spielberg, or Zuckerberg. Managing that amount of money, even with help, will be a full time job. Three, foundations are notorious for changing goals once you kick the bucket. Money you intend for one purpose more likely will end up going to another purpose, often one that is in complete opposite... [ More ]
