If you buy the Red Devil Combination Dream Book, it lists 697 and 876 as numbers you buy if you dream of the dead.

Through the years I have heard many times, that the numbers 697 were called the dead mans numbers. Number players say if a friend or someone you know passes away, you should bet them. I compare this bit of legend and lore to the dead mans hand in poker. The hand that Wild Bill Hickok was playing when he was murdered. It had 2 black Aces and 2 black Eights. The fifth card he was holding has been debated, either the Jack or Queen of diamonds.
