A Realtor who works with HGTV advised that the home the buyer decides to go with is already closed on prior to broadcasting the show. The way they make a decision in 30 min or an hour makes for good TV.

I wonder how many houses David looks at before he decides on the 3 to show the lottery winners. Pretty sure the real estate agents give him more than 3 listings.

I enjoyed the My Lottery Dream Home marathon. I now have more info. on how to go about a search for a home.

I will hire a real estate agent and go into much detail as possible on what I want. That will help eliminate most homes that are available. I will do my best to enjoy the hunt.

If I won a good chunk of money, I would use caution in my first new residence. I would probably get a top grade apartment in the high rent district until the dust settled. Then slowly, quietly make a move.That's if I decided even to get a home. I would definitely buy land for investment and hobby purposes.
