So the bonus number has nothing to do with jackpot.

Your in-laws are right except they have to add $1 more for a combination number to win the guaranteed 1M called extra.

I haven't watched the draw. But at 6/49 people pick their 6 numbers and if they match that's the jackpot? I don't know how bonus number comes in.

I'm guessing that the 6+ number is the bonus number? And the 7th number is the Jackpot?

Maybe if you watch the drawing, they draw a bonus number before drawing the 7th Jackpot number...

I play Canadian 649/max and in 649 if you pick and get a winning ticket lets say 123456, there it says BONUS NUMBER IS (#). I mean if the machine draws 123456 what is the bonus number about?
