I have multiple toxic nutters in my family. Cluster B issues everywhere. My jackpot fantasy automatically includes that stuff lol.

Buy a house, adopt 2 more dogs, get proper health insurance, settle lawsuits from my crazy hostile family, take up gardening as a full time hobby, etc.

Players that win a lot of money playing the lottery can definitely be sued. Whether or not the party that brought the suit will get any thing from the winner is a completely different story. G5

Umbrella insurance or Excess liability Insurance could bring some peace of mind. Call your agent and get a quote. You will decide how much coverage you need.

Then there is kidnap/ransom insurance. Get a quote.

Havent you heard the phase deep pockets before? Poor people dont get sued. Wealthy people and/or people who are well insured get sued. It often has nothing to do with the merits of the case. Adam Corrolla talks about how he has FU money, meaning, that when people threaten him with a frivolous lawsuit and demand 10k for it to go away, he can say, FU to them. He rather spend a couple of hundred thousand fighting the bogus lawsuit in court than roll over on obvious extortion.

Along with the link Raven62 provided there was also a case where a spouse won a jackpot and didn't tell their spouse about it. It sent to court and the spouse who didn't win the jackpot was awarded the entire amount.

The real concern is somebody falling in your yard or purposefully cutting you off in traffic and you rear-ending them. Then they file suit against you. Many cases are summarily dismissed because they are meritless. There is a reason you should get your financial and legal affairs in order if you hit one of the big jackpots.

Then you have nothing to worry about. We can talk hypothetically but the biggest barrier is winning the lottery itself. Everything else can fall in place once you beat the impossible odds.

If you win the lottery, I heard that people will sue you.

But suing someone is kind of hard because you need a legitimate reason and evidence. Most lottery lawsuits are like being in a lottery pool or not telling your significant other.

I just want to know what type of lottery lawsuits there are. These are the only I can think of where you can lose all of your winnings.
