I know NH has a Freedom of Information statue, but does that law prevent the lottery from waiting say 30 days after the ticket is validated to publish the name of the winner

We'll find out shortly here in New Hampshire. Attorneys for last months big Powerball winner will be in court tomorrow seeking an order that will allow her to remain anonymous. Tonight's news had a story about this. She may also have another avenue to stay secretive. A state senator will be introducing a bill this week to allow lottery winners to remain anonymous. Even if it does pass it would appear unlikely to retroactively protect our winners identity.

A woman in Illinois won a MM jackpot in 2008. Illinois is not an anonymous state but will consider different situations (Music recently mentioned this in another thread.)

The woman is a pharmacist and was concerned that publicity would trigger malpractice suits because of her job.
