In all, more than 980,000 bitcoins have been stolen from exchanges since 2011, two-thirds of those from Mt. Gox. (added note: Mt. Gox, the world's largest bitcoin trading exchange, collapsed in early 2014, more than 24,000 customers around the world lost access to hundreds of millions of dollars' worth of cryptocurrency and cash). Today, all of the stolen coins would be worth more than $6 billion, Reuters has calculated.

Big difference is... When someone wins the US lottery, its backed by the US government. Bit coins are backed by who? Some fat teen sitting behind a computer in Bulgaria? LOL

That moment when you say to yourself no more bitcoin can t go any higher, and it does every day for four years straight.

Bitcoin is an attempt at creating a level playing field for the entire world to compete or keep up with the economies of highly developed nations such as ours. Without ideas like this, most of the world will never stand a chance economically speaking. IBM is one of the few so far that have already banked on it. Whether or not bitcoin remains, the idea will.
