I would consider it. It depends on the size of the jackpot. When someone claims a prize that is really big, even months later, the media covers it, especially locally.

If you live in Los Angeles and have a common name like Jose Garcia, you don't have to change it. But if you're called Constantine Jovovich, you should change it.

First i would ask for the entire amount won to be given in unwrapped hand counted pennies, by only one person employed by either the bank or the Lottery commission requiring them to stay in one spot without leaving for any reason even if they run out of pennies to count. Then give a million to all those people who asked for it, payable at a rate of $1.00 a year for 1 million years.

You understand that you don't have to change your name in the same county or State right?

That may be true in some places, but in most states name changes need to be done in the county of residence. Of course you can move, but you need to really move. You can't just rent a cheap apartment and claim that's where your live while still staying at your real residence. FOR a second I thought I was the one who wrote your post. That's what I always say. If you change your name, at least around here, takes two months top, which means, the interest in you has died down and reporters have already moved on to fresh stories. Since it could take that long to change your name, I think your only option is to choose the annuity, which is what I would do anyway for many reasons most people don't foresee. How so? You understand that you don't have to change your name in the same county or State right? If you changed your name to John Smith, switch all your driver's license/SSN/citizenship documents to that name, claimed the prize with your new name, then go to another State/county/country and change your name back to your given name, how would you gain more noteriety

There are people who have way more money than the largest jackpot ever won, and they use their money to assure their safety, and we all know their names.....just check the Forbes list of the wealthiest, and I'll bet none are lottery winners.
