The trees were planted along the Potomac Tidal Basin near the Jefferson Memorial, in East Potomac Park, and on the White House grounds with Washington (Obelisk) Monument showing.

CHERRY TREES CELEBRATION INTRODUCED TO AMERICA

March27th, 1912 our first Lady Helen Taft the wife of Japan's ambassador to the US, Viscountess Chinda, planted the first two of 3,000 cherry trees given to US as a gift by the Mayor of Tokyo-

These same trees still bloom can be viewed every spring in Washington, D.C.
