Texas lottery commissioners have authorized the publication of rules that will change the Cash 5 matrix from pick 5 of 37 to pick 5 of 35.

The new rules establishes a set of guaranteed prizes and adoption of a Free ticket feature for matching 2 of 5 winning numbers.

The top prize will be $25,000, except when there are 4 or more winners when a maximum payout of $75,000 will be divided into equal shares.

Lottery officials say the changes could go into effect in September.

i agree with the recommended changes. it would indeed generate more revenue.

Well, it's an improvement. A approximate jackpot of $14,000-$15,000 is totally unacceptable for the odds this game has. I played for a while, but decided it wasn't worth my time or money.

Frankly, even $25,000 is a paltry jackpot for a Cash 5 game, especially compared to some other state's games.

The change does sound reasonable..IMHO...Then again,I have never played that one before

Think that is a lot more reasonable for a cash 5 game. I'm sure they will make the changes

Texas lottery officials are recommending major changes to the long-running Cash 5 draw game.

Here are the changes;

1. Matrix changed to 5/35.

2. Match 5 - $25,000

3. Match 4 - $350

4. Match 3 - $15

5. Match 2 - Free ticket ($1 value)

6. Only 3 5/5 winners will receive $25,000 each.

7. Four or more 5/5 winners will receive equal share of jackpot.

Official implementation date will be determined at the April 12 Commission meeting.
