I read the NYLottery website before participating in this thread and didn't find those odds and limitations but now that I know them, would make playing NY pick10 more interesting.

The odds of winning the jackpot in pick10 are 1 in 8,911,711 (from the NYL website). They also have a cap or limit on how much money can be won in a single game. That is $5,000,000. That part is interesting. Let s say, hypothetically, you play the 10 winning numbers out of 20, and pick them out yourself, and say you play the same 10 winning numbers 10 times. It appears New York Pick 10 has twenty winning numbers per draw, so I think the odds are calculated differently than a standard 10/80 lottery.

You are right. I'll use the calculator to figure the odds of matching 10of20of80.

I wonder how many lottery players would play a lottery where the odds of hitting the jackpot / top prize are 1 in 1,646,492,110,120. If it had a rolling jackpot, it would probably be $10 billion since jackpot wins would be rare...

I got my odds from an odd calculator that showed

10/80

Maybe I used the wrong figures.

Thanks for your response. May I ask where you got that fact about the odds for Pick Ten? On the back of the respective play cards, it says the odds of winning the jackpot on Pick Ten are 1 in 8,911,711, while the odds of winning the jackpot in Mega Millions are 1 in 302,575,350. What I find interesting though, is - On Take Five, the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 575,757, while the odds of winning SECOND place in Pick Ten are much less - 1 in 163,381... and yet, there is a jackpot winner o... Have you figured the odds of matching 10of80 in the pick 10 game? They are worst than winning a PB or MM jackpot and pay a lot less. Some top predictors have done well playing Texas and Georgia's All or Nothing, a 12/24 game which is similar to New York's Pick 10 game.

Hi welcome to lotterypost. I also play pick10 from time to time. Qp here , a couple qp s there. The thing that I find very unique about pick10, compared to the other games in all, is that there are barely ever any full $500,000 jackpot winners. I have only heard 1 story of a jackpot winner in Pick10 in maybe 7 years. But, even having said that, I don t believe it is fixed, just very hard to win for some reason. Thank you for your response. Do you know why the prize money for most of the lottery games depends on the number of winners, while the Pick Ten prize money is the same every day, regardless of the number of winners

No, it is not fixed. With the odds/payout ratio, there is no need to fix anything.

Take for example the matching 8 numbers. The odds are 1/7384 and the payout is $300. Check the odds vs payouts for the entire game and you will see the house always wins, thus no need to fix anything.

Hi - I really need to know if Pick Ten is fixed. I have been playing for a couple of months now and the most I have won is $10. There were two nights total that I didn't play and on one of those nights, eight of my numbers came in. Would have been $300. I feel like, with the game being computerized, they are able to come up with the right combination of ten winning numbers, that assures them of not getting a jackpot winner and a pre-determined number of tickets that win the other monetary prizes...
