BobP,

I've heard about colored envelopes and such for things like Reader's Digest contests but for lottery 2nd chance contests don't they just take all the losing tickets out and put them in a drum

Best strategy is to have your entries well distributed. Follow the instructions carefully, look for any opportunity such as being allowed to use a slightly larger or colored envelope in case the drawing isn't totally blind.

While sometimes the best odds are to put everything into one attempt, if you lose the rest of the drawings will be zero odds in your favor.

BobP

In Hollister Ca a person won a 1,000$ 2nd chance prize, then again four weeks later for the same amount...

given the number of people and ticket codes submitted per week i found it extremely odd.

So I went to twitter to post a humorous jab at calotto asking them if they needed word of mouth so bad there that they goofed and gaffed by having the same guy win twice when they probably should have had another person from the same town to seem less inconspicuous and more spontaneous about it.

Your best odds of winning something would come from having all of your entries in a single drawing. If you have 70 entries and there are 50,000 total entries your chances of winning something will be 70/50,000, or 1 in 714. Depending on how entries are sorted into the 10 drums there may or may not be an advantage to sending them all on the same day.

Your best chance would be if sending them all at once resulted in having all 70 chances in a single barrel - 70/5,000 = 1 in 71. There's no free... [ More ]

So in WI they draw 10 winners for $1000 each week on Thursdays from mailed in losing tickets. They have 10 drums for a total per week of around 50,000 envelopes. I have seventy entries....should I mail all in on one day, mail ten a day during the week? What would give me the best odds? Thanks
