That ticket belongs to you now. You did not steal it , you found it so it s public property. I am sure the back of the ticket clearly said to sign your ticket and that they are not responsible for a lost or stolen ticket

Yeah possession is 9/10ths of the law. I found it on the ground in a parking lot with no one else around to claim it. No one signed it and I considered it garbage/discarded at that point.

Having possession of lost property can count as theft:

The basic definition of theft has three components:

1. possessing something that belongs to someone else

2. without the owner's permission and

3. intending to deprive the owner of it.

Orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, you could go buy a ticket with those same exact numbers to CYA. That way if there was a review at least you would have a split

Found a mega millions ticket on the ground today when I came out of the store. Of course I picked it up and it s for the Friday drawing. It was at a small store that is more of a neighborhood type store where the owners know their customers. If that ticket should win, would I get all the winnings or do you think I m getting a date in court with the person on camera who bought it? I know chances that it is a winner are nearly 0%, but I figure that will be my luck if I did win
